Glenties Notes 23rd January 2011

Pat Mc Gettigan
The death took place on Friday 24th December 2010 of Pat Mc Gettigan, Station Road, Glenties.  His Remains were brought home on Sunday and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Monday morning.  Fr. Pat Prendergast assisted by Fr. Adrian Gavigan celebrated Requiem Mass.  Members of the family did the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar.  Music and singing was by John F. O’ Donnell and Sinead Finn.  Pat was buried in the family plot in the New Graveyard with his baby daughter Katie who died in 1989.  Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife, Kathleen, daughters, Donna and Amy, sons, Alan, Mark and Kevin, brothers, Johnny, Michael, Josie and Brendan, his sister, Mary, nieces, nephews and all his other relatives and friends.

Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to Bernie O’Malley and her family, Station Road, Glenties on the death recently of Bernie’s brother Jack Grimes, Ballyshannon.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Mary Anne Breslin, Corr Point, Lettermacaward, who died recently, to her daughters, Sheila Mc Garvey, Mill Road, Breid Morrow, Main Street and her brother, Colm Melly, Stonepark, Glenties and to all her relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Christy Boyle, formally from Derries, Glenties, who died in London recently, to his brother, Packie Boyle, Derries, his niece, Marguerite Mc Loone, Main St. Glenties and to all his relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Mary, Ellie and Breid Mc Devitt, on the death recently of their brother, Peadar Dan Mc Devitt, Stracastle, Glenties and to all his relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Teresa Boyle, Mill Road, Glenties who died last week in Arch View Lodge, Nursing Home, Letterkenny, to her nephews, James, Glen Road, John, Church Road, and Eddie Gallagher, Ard Mc Gill, Glenties, Daniel Brennan, Shallogans and to all her other relatives and friends.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Breid Gavigan, Narin Road, Glenties on the death last week of her aunt, Nellie Rogers, Kerrytown, Burtonport and to all the relatives and friends.

Kieran Ward
The death took place on Monday 3rd January 2011 of Kieran Ward, Mill Road, Glenties.  His Remains were brought home on Tuesday and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Thursday.  Requiem Mass was celebrated by Fr. Pat Prendergast P.P. Glenties.  Members of the family did the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar.  Music and singing was by John F. O’ Donnell and Sinead Finn.  Kieran was buried with his parents, Packie and Annie in the New Graveyard.  Sincere sympathy is extended to his partner, Teresa, children, Cian, Caolan and Eva, sisters, Mary, Nancy, Bernadette and Teresa, brothers, Liam, Gerry and Josie, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

New Arrival
Congratulations to Loraine and Sean Mc Loone, Straboy, Glenties on the birth recently of their first child, a baby boy (Sean Óg).

Bingo
Winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre on Tuesday 4th January were – Geraldine Jordan, Inver won the Jackpot of € 400.  Bridie Boyle, Teresa Mc Kelvey, Bridie Doherty, Breege Roarty, John Mc Cole, Martin Mc Taggart, Michelle Burn, Mary Bonner, Mary Furey and Brendan Mc Gill won € 100 each. Marion Davidson, Janis Quinn, Teresa Molloy, Mickey Herron, Anne Furey, Margaret Gillespie, Eamon Boyle and Dim Melly won € 50 each.  Marion Davidson, Mary Mc Mahon, Mary Boyle, Michael Doherty, Sally Mc Hugh and Willie Mc Nelis won € 25 each.

Winners on Tuesday 11th January were – Fay Moore won the Jackpot of € 400.  John Mc Cole, Fay Moore, Breege Gallagher, Rosbeg, Timlin O Dochartaigh, Bernadette Gallagher, Rose Mc Fadden and Paula Hegarty won € 100 each.  Margaret Ward, Breege Gallagher, Norah Gallagher, Brown Kid, Bid Fletcher, Bridie Doherty, Ann Davidson, Ann Mc Dyre, Maas, Michael Sweeney, Brown Kid, Mary mc Dermott, Sarah Mc Glynn and Mary Ellen Bonner won € 50 each.  Sally Mc Guigan, Bella Mc Gill, Kathleen Gallagher and Bella Mc Gill won € 25 each.

Keep Fit
Ladies keep-Fit with Rose Mc Swiggan every Tuesday evening from 7 p.m. – 8.15 p.m. in Scoil Mhuire Gym, Chapel Brae, Glenties.  Come along and enjoy getting fit.  Cost is € 5 per night.

Collection
The Raphoe Pilgrimage to Lourdes Annual Church Gate Collection will take place at all Masses next weekend 22nd and 23rd January.

Christmas Crib Collection
The Christmas Crib collection in Glenties amounted to € 619 and in Edeninfagh it amounted to € 101.  Thank you for your contribution.  All proceeds going to Maria Rafferty’s work in Ethiopia.

Áras Sheáin Bháin – Night Classes
The following classes will be starting in the Library at the beginning of February – Irish, Piano Accordion, Keyboard, Guitar, Fiddle and First Aid.  Anyone interested should call 9546071 to register.
