Glenties Notes 23rd January 2013

The Late Eddie Mc Dyre:
The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital of Eddie Mc Dyre, Derries, Glenties, on Monday 7th January 2013. His Remains were brought to his home on Tuesday and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Thursday. Requiem Mass was celebrated by Fr. Gerard Cunningham, Fintown. Family members did the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music and singing was by John F. O’ Donnell. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Eddie is survived by one brother, Hugo, Main Street, Glenties and one sister Kitty Mooney, Doohill, Ardara, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Four brothers, Tommy, Barney, Dan and P. J. predeceased him.

The Late Mary (Mick) Gallagher:
The death took place at her home on Thursday 17th January 2013 of Mary Gallagher, Glen Road, Glenties, (better known as Mary Mick). Her Remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday morning. Requiem Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Pat Prendergast assisted by Fr. Denis Quinn and Fr. Adrian Gavigan. Family members did the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar. A Reflection was read by her daughter Maria. Music and singing was by John F. O’ Donnell, Denise Boyle and family members and friends. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Mary is survived by daughters, Carmel, Catriona and Maria, sons, Seamus, Carl, Sean and Michael, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Her husband James predeceased her ten years ago. Three brothers, Packie, John and Michael and one sister, Madge, also predeceased her.

Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to Sarah Gallagher, Ard Patrick, Glenties on the death of her brother, Paddy Cannon, which took place last Friday in Michigan, U.S.A.; also to his niece, Marie Mc Loone, Station Road, Glenties, sister-in-law Lil Cannon, Narin Road and all the relatives and friends.

Christmas Crib:
The Christmas Crib Collection in Glenties, with all proceeds going to Maria Rafferty’s work in Ethiopia amounted to € 730.00.

The Christmas Crib Collection in Edeninfagh, with all proceeds going to Maria Rafferty’s work in Ethiopia amounted to € 95.00. Thank you for your contributions.

Operation Transformation:
A six week Operation Transformation will commence on Wednesday 23rd January at 7 p.m. sharp in The Community Centre, Glenties. Registration is € 5; followed by a weigh – in, talk, and then a walk. There will be a walk every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. for six weeks, and a walk every Saturday morning at 12 noon for five weeks. This is to try and promote a healthier and more active life style; “So get up from that couch and join us in a walk. All are welcome to come along.

Glenties Community Action Group A. G. M. will take place at The Community Centre on Wednesday 30th January from 8.30 p.m. All Welcome.

Glenties Community Centre:
Bingo in the Glenties Community Centre every Tuesday evening. Every Line is €50, every house is €100. Jackpot will be €4900 on 45 numbers on the 29/01/2013. If not won €300 will be paid out. Bowls is on every Monday night. Tia Ti is on every Wednesday night at 8pm and Drama Classes for children is on every Thursday at 5 pm. To book the Community Centre contact 0872679321.

The community centre will be open from 6pm to 10pm every evening except Tuesday for all ages from 12 years up for to play snooker. Entrance at the side door.
