Glenties Notes 25th July 2008

The annual Church Gate Collection on behalf of the Labour party will be taken up in Fintown on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July. Your generous response would be appreciated.

Water Safety Swim Week this year runs from next Monday 28th July to Saturday 2nd August at Narin Strand and at Portnoo Harbour. Beginners and improvers will be catered for. Basic Life Support and CPR training will be among the skills taught by experienced instructors to the more advanced classes during the week. The registration will take place at the promenade in Narin at 11a.m. on Monday 28th July. All are welcome.

The Irish Wheelchair Association Church Gate Collection taken up in Glenties recently amounted to 955 Euro. The amounted taken up in Edeninfagh was 143.16 Euro. Sincere thanks to all who contributed so generously.

Falcarragh Folk Choir recently launched a CD ~ “Buiochas” ~ a collection of inspirational songs and music, with all proceeds going to Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin. The CDs are available in most pharmacy outlets throughout the county and cost 15 Euro. Please support.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Gracie Mc Dyer, Mullantyboyle, Glenties, who died last Sunday morning.

The results of the Angling Competition held on Lough Finn on Sunday 20th July are as follows: 1st John Nolan, Belfast. 2nd Darren Molloy, Fintown. 3rd John Mc Loone, Derry. An Cumann Iascairi wish to thank Eamonn Sweeney, Donegal Travel, Dungloe for his generous sponsorship of this competition. We also thank Naughton’s Bar for refreshments afterwards. Our next competition is a Ladies and Juniors Competition on August 10th and our next Senior Competition is on August 16th.

E.S.O.L. Courses (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

County Donegal Vocational Education Committee Essential Skills Certificate in General Learning ~ FETAC Level 2 English, Maths, Computers.
