Glenties Notes 27th November 2007

Congratulations to Teresa Campbell, who graduated recently from St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, with an Honours Degree in Education.  Teresa received her primary education at Edeninfagh N.S. and her secondary at Gairm Scoil Chú Uladh, Ballinamore.    She is a daughter of Josie and Alice Campbell, Tangavane, Glenties and is currently teaching in Scoil Colmcille, Fintown.

Congratulations to Niamh Boyle, who graduated on Saturday 24th November from the Institute of Technology, Sligo, with a Bachelor of Business Honours Degree.  Niamh is a daughter of Pat and Barbara Boyle, Glen Road, Glenties.

Congratulations to Fiona Burke who graduated on Saturday 24th November from the Institute of Technology, Sligo with a Bachelor of Business Degree in Management.  Fiona is a daughter of Bernie Burke, The Rock, Glenties.  Both Niamh and Fiona received their primary education in Scoil Mhuire and secondary in St. Columba’s Comprehensive School, Glenties.

The Girls old school was bought by the H S E some time ago with the promise of building a New Health Centre in Glenties.  At a special meeting of the Parish Council on Friday night, which was very well attended, it was decided to get a petition signed by all the people and this petition will be taken to homes in Glenties and the surrounding area this week for your signature.  Please give your support by signing.  It might also help if you got in touch with our representatives in Dail Eireann.  Another meeting is being held in the Community Centre tomorrow Friday 30th November at 8 p.m.

Sunday 9th December 2007 will be a Night of Donegal Nostalgia in the Limelight, Glenties.  Margo (Donegal Person of the Year) will be there with supporting acts – Pauline Glackin & Joe Rodgers, Elaine Boyle, Deirdre Bonner and Paddy Joe O’ Donnell.  Proceeds of the concert are in aid of the Hydro Pool Building Fund.  The concert will start at 8 p.m.  Tickets are 20 Euro and are on sale in Mc Glincheys.

Glenties Community Alert Committee would like to thank all who contributed to their recent Church Gate Collection which amounted to 665.44 Euro in Glenties and 109.57 Euro in Edeninfagh.  The committee have Security Equipment available for Senior Citizens.  Anyone requiring same should contact John Gormley at 9551258, Michael Glynn at 9551393 or Nora Breslin at 9551192 after 6.00p.m.

On Wednesday evening throughout Advent we will take time out to reflect on “Christmas – Being Ready”.  If you would feel like joining us at the Convent, Gortnamuclagh, you will be very welcome.  We start on Wednesday 5th December 8.30 – 9.30 p.m.
