Glenties Notes 28th March 2012

The Late Seamus O’ Donnell
The death took place in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin on Sunday 18th March 2012 of Seamus O’ Donnell, son of Maggie and the late Neilie O’ Donnell, Meenahalla, Glenties. His Remains came to the family home on Tuesday and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Friday 23rd. Fr. Shane Gallagher assisted by Fr. Denis Quinn and Fr. Eamonn Mc Laughlin concelebrated Requiem Mass. Family members did the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music and singing was by John F. O’ Donnell and Denise Boyle. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Sincere sympathy is extended to all his relatives and friends.

Master’s Degree
Congratulations to Michéal Brennan, who was awarded a Master’s Degree in Business from University of Ulster Magee College. Michéal is a son of Francis and Kathleen Brennan, Main Street, Glenties.

Mass in Rossnowlagh
A bus will leave Mc Guinness’ Café at 6.00 p.m. on Tuesday 3rd April and every first Tuesday for Mass in Rossnowlagh. The organisers wish to make an appeal for people to join them.

X-Factor
Following the recent successful X-Factor night in M25 DVDs are now on sale in The Post Office, The Highlands Hotel, Keeney’s Bar and Melly’s Costcutters. This is a double DVD and is priced at just €10. All proceeds go to the three nominated Charities which are Donegal Hospice, Ronald Mc Donald House and The Local Playground. Thank you for your support.

Weight Watchers in the Community Centre, Glenties every Thursday night from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Special offer now on – € 10 per night or 7 nights for € 50.

Bingo
The winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 20th March were – Gracie O’ Hara won the Jackpot of € 400. Hugo Mc Dyre, Sally Mc Hugh, Hugh Gallagher, Mary Gilselsy, Sarah Gallagher, peter Sweeney, Nora Mc Hugh and Danny Rodgers won € 100 each. Bridget Brogan, Bridie Doherty, Bella Mc Gill, Maria Boyle, Breid Gallagher, Gracie O’ Hara, Cathy Connell, Portnoo, Patsy Brown, Moya Gallagher, Annie Boyle, Station Road, Margaret Gillespie, Kitty Mc Glynn and Anne Phildy, won € 50 each. Margaret Bonner, Kitty Mc Glynn, Fintown and Rose Mc Groarty, Frosses won € 35 each. Ann Davison, Burtonport and Nora Mc Hugh won € 25 each.

The recent collection for Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind taken up in Glenties amounted to € 584.00. The collection in Edeninfagh amounted to € 100. Many thanks for your generosity.
