Glenties Notes 2nd February 2013
Mass in Rossnowlagh:
A bus will leave Mc Guinness’ Café at 6.00 p.m. on Tuesday 5th February and every first Tuesday for Mass in Rossnowlagh. The organisers wish to make an appeal for more people to join them.
Glenties Community Centre:
Bingo in the Glenties Community Centre every Tuesday Night at 9 p.m.; doors open at 8 p.m. Every Line €50, every House €100. Jackpot, if not won will be € 5000 on 45 numbers on the 5th February. If Jackpot is not won on the night € 300 will be paid out; Inhouse Draws. Snooker room will be open from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. every evening except Tuesday. Snooker room will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 10 p.m. Bowls is on, every Monday evening from 8 p.m. and Ti Chi is on, every Wednesday at 8 p.m.-9 p.m. Drama for all ages is on every Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Awards:
Congratulations to Amy Boyle Carr, from Scoil Mhuire who won the ‘Primary School Girl’s Award’ at the ‘Donegal Sports Awards’ function in the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny last Friday night. This was for her outstanding achievements in Gaelic, Soccer and Athletics in 2012. Amy is a daughter of Paul and Caroline Carr, Clós Naomh Conal, Tullyard Road, Glenties.
Congratulations also to Jim Mc Guinness, who received ‘Manager of the Year Award’.
Donegal Person of the Year:
Congratulations to Jim Mc Guinness who has been selected as 2012 Donegal Person of the Year by the Donegal Association in Dublin.
New Record:
Congratulations to Dr. John E. Ward, a scientist from Glenties, who has set a new NASA long duration Balloon record in Antarctica recently. John is a son of J.P. and the late Kathleen Ward, Station Road, Glenties.
New Arrival:
Congratulations to Evelyn and Charlie Mc Manus, Stranaglough, Glenties on the birth of their second child, a baby sister (Réiltín) for Seárlait. Evelyn is a daughter of Michael and Mary Ward, Straboy Glenties
P.T.A.A. Collection:
The local branch of the P.T.A.A. wish to thank everyone who gave so generously to the recent annual collection.
Legion of Mary Meeting:
Legion of Mary Meeting will take place in the Sacristy after 7.30 p.m. Mass on Wednesdays. New members welcome.
Collection:
The Pro-life Church Gate Collection taken up recently in Glenties amounted to € 530. The Pro-life Church Gate Collection taken up recently in Edeninfagh amounted to € 130. Thank you most sincerely to everyone who made a donation.
Jiving Classes:
Jiving Classes will recommence in the Highlands Hotel on Monday 4th February 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. Admission is € 5. Come along and learn to Jive, Foxtrot, Waltz, Quick Step, and Line Dance. Experienced Tutors. Have a great night’s fun and exercise. It is not necessary to bring a partner.
Tír Chonaill Gap Cycling Club:
The “Club Cycles” commence this Sunday – 27th January, from Glenties Community Centre, leaving at 9.30 a.m. Please arrive at the Community Centre on or before 9.20 a. m. All members welcome.
First Holy Communion:
Children from St. Riaghan’s, Drimnacrosh, Kilkenny N.S. and Scoil Mhuire will receive their First Holy Communion at 11 a.m. Mass on Saturday 25th May
First Confession:
First Confession for the First Holy Communion Children will take place in the Big Chapel on Friday 26th April at 8 p.m.
