Glenties Notes 2nd November 2012

Wedding Bells:
Congratulations to Charlotte Dooley and Dave Tierney who were married in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday 20th October 2012. Charlotte (Charlie) is a daughter of Lena and Tony Dooley, The Rock, Glenties and Dave is from Belfast. The reception was held in The Highlands Hotel, Glenties.

Straboy Oral Hearing:
The oral hearing into the Straboy wind farm proposal concluded on Thursday 25th October 2012 after 6 days of evidence and cross questioning. The Inspector will now make his report and forward this to An Bord Pleanála for formal consideration. No proposed decision date has been provided by the Board. The Glenties Wind Farm Information Group would like to express their thanks for all the support, financially and morally, received during the process, and advise that contributions promised, can now be forwarded to members of the group. The group would like to thank all those who gave evidence, cross questioned and assisted behind the scenes. The group will still take contributions to help defray the substantial costs associated with the oral hearing. These can be made to: Bank of Ireland, Main Street, Glenties, Account No: 97730412. Thanks:
Leo and all the Mc Loone Family of Leo’s Bar, Glenties would like to thank everyone for the support and help at the BBQ that was held in August. We will hand over a cheque for € 2,245 this week to the C C U Letterkenny Hospital. The C C U is close to our hearts and they do great work, so again we thank you all. Photos should be in next week’s paper.

Weight watchers:
Weight watchers on a Thursday evening have relocated to the Parish Centre in the chapel car park in Ardara for the duration of the renovations in the Glenties Community Centre. Apologises for any inconvenience.

Bingo:
The Glenties Community Centre Bingo will be in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties every Tuesday evening for the remainder of the renovations in the Centre. Every line €50 every house €100. Jackpot if not won will be €3700 on the 6th of November and if not won on that night on 45 numbers €300 will be paid.

Safe Pass Course:
A safe pass course will be held in Glenties on Tuesday 6th November. Contact Deirdre on 086 6033927 or Dolmen Centre on 074 9545010 as soon as possible as places are limited.

Novena of Masses for the Dead:
Every Mass from Friday 2nd November until Saturday 10th November, in St. Connell’s Church Glenties, will be offered for those who are named in the Dead Lists. Special envelopes, containing Dead Lists, are available at the door of the Church. The completed lists should be returned by Friday 2nd November to be placed on the Altar for the Masses. Please do not leave envelopes with donations for Masses in or around the church. The envelopes will be kept in a secure place between Masses.

Confession Times in Glenties:
Wednesday 31st October – Confession immediately after 7.30 p.m. Mass; Thursday 1st November – Confession after 11.00 a.m. Mass; Friday 2nd November – Confession after 9.30 a.m. Mass & after 7.30 p.m. Mass; Saturday 3rd November – Confession after 11.00 a.m. Mass

Confession Times in Edeninfagh:
Sunday 28th October – Confession after 9.30 a.m. Mass; Friday 2nd November – Confession at 5.30 p.m.
