Glenties Notes on 28th May 2007

The marriage of David Molloy and Michelle Delaney took place in Claremoris on Saturday 19th May 2007.  Monsignor John Delaney officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass.  David is a son of Pat and Patricia Molloy, Mill road, Glenties and Michelle is a daughter of Peter and Mary Delaney, Claremoris.  Her parents gave the bride away and her sisters, Joyce, Carla and Petrina Delaney, friends, Stephanie Kennedy and Emily Bonner attended her.  A friend of the groom, Hugh Breslin was bestman.  Friends, Charlie Boyle and Philip Gallagher, cousin, Barry Keeney and nephew Jamie Molloy were groomsmen.  Ellie Delaney and Katie Muldoon were flowergirls.  Ushers were Patrick and James Molloy, nephews of the groom.  Readings were by Tommy Higgins and Deirdre Delaney.  Darragh Delaney, Vincent Cranley, Mary Mitchell, Sharon Kelly, Catriona Cunningham and Camilla Molloy read Prayers of the Faithful.  Mary Delaney and Patricia Molloy, mothers of the bride and groom brought the Gifts to the Altar.  A Reflection was read by David Muldoon.  Music and singing was by Annette Griffin.  The reception was held in Knockranney House Hotel, Westport and the honeymoon is being spent in Las Vegas.

 

Congratulations to the boys and girls who received their First Holy Communion in St. Colmcille’s Church, Fintown on Sunday 13th May 2007.  They were ~ Finnuala Doherty, Sarah long, Tara Mc Kelvey, Stephen Mc Glynn, Ronan O’Donnell, Francis Mc Devitt, Orán Mc Devitt, Liam Mc Gurk, Eilish Mc Devitt, Denis Quinn, Séan Furey and Sinéad Mc Devitt.

 

The death took place on Friday 25th May 2007 in Strangriff Nursing Home, Stranorlar of Philomena Cannon (nee Routledge), Main St. Glenties.  Her remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday evening.  Requiem Mass was celebrated on Sunday at 12 Noon by Fr. Paul Gallagher C.C. Glenties.  Burial took place afterwards in the New Graveyard.  Sincere sympathy is extended to her nieces, Rosaleen, Joan and Marie, to her relatives in the USA and to all her relatives and friends.  Her husband Charlie predeceased her in 1992.  Her brothers James, Paddy, Charlie, John and Freddie, sisters, Mary Kate, Emily and Tessie also predeceased her.  Philomena was the last surviving member of the family of Paddy and Susanna Routledge, Main Street, Glenties and would have been 95 years old in July.  She enjoyed good health until quite recently and spent all her life in Glenties except for the last few years, when she was in hospital.
