Glenties Notes on December 6th 2001

The death took place in Arch View Lodge Nursing Home, Letterkenny, on Tuesday 27th November 2001 of Mary Mc Nelis, Ardconnell, Glenties. Her remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Wednesday evening. Fr. Nigel Ó Gallachóir, C.C. celebrated Requiem Mass on Thursday morning. Burial took place in the New Cemetery. Mary is survived by one son Sean and daughter-in-law, Rosaleen, Meenahalla, Glenties and one daughter, Peggy and son-in-law, Michael Ford, Letterkenny, grandchildren, Mary, Michael and Sean Ford. Her husband, Andy died 30 years ago and her only brother Eugene died in 1993.

The death took place in Devon, England on Friday 30th November ’01 of Kathleen Rowe, formerly Mc Mullin, Glenties. Her funeral takes place on Wednesday. She is survived by one son, William, three sisters, Josie Houston, The Rock, Mary Mc Hugh, Ardconnell, Glenties, Teresa Mc Mullin, Frosses and one brother Tommy in Boston, nieces and nephews and other relatives. Kathleen was the eldest of a family of ten of the late Thomas and Mary Mc Mullin. Five sisters, Nan, Aggie, Rosha, Chris and Bridie predeceased her.

The death took place in Westport last week of Josephine King, formerly O’ Donnell from Aughla, Glenties. She was a sister of the late Bella Mc Fadden, Main St. Glenties.

The death took place in Boston, following an accident of Mary Keeney (nee Friel from Fanad), on Tuesday 27th November ’01. Mary’s husband Brian is a son of Barney and Mary Keeney, Drimnacrosh, Glenties.

The death took place in Kilmacrennan last week of Hugh Strain, who served as a Curate in Glenties in the early seventies.
