Glenties Notes on July 11th 2002

Congratulations to June (nee Conefry) and Hugo Gilroy, Altar, Glenties on the birth recently of their baby boy.

Congratulations to Eilis and Eamonn Mc Nelis, Derries, Glenties on the birth recently of their third child, a baby sister for Rachel and Mark.

Congratulations to Dympna Gallagher, Meenacahan, Frosses and Tom Carlin, U.S.A. who were married in St. Mary’s Church, Frosses on Thursday 4th July 2002.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Conal Mc Nelis, Ard Patrick, Glenties on the death in Letterkenny Hospital on Tuesday 9th July ’02, of his mother, Nan Mc Nelis, Main St. Ardara.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Seamus Mullen, Station House, Glenties on the sudden death of his brother Neil Mullen, Letterkenny.

The minister of State for European Affairs, Mr. Dick Roche T.D. will open the 22nd Patrick MacGill Summer School on the afternoon of Sunday 28th July. The theme of this year’s school is: ‘Ireland and Europe 1972-2002: Where do We Go From Here?’ Among the many well-known people who will attend the school this year are, Pat Cox, M.E.P. President of the European Parliament, who will give the annual ‘John Hume Lecture’ in the Comprehensive School on the opening night, Dr. Garrett Fitzgerald, M.E.P.’s Patricia Mc Kenna, Proinsias De Rossa, Joe Mc Cartin, John Cushnahan, Fine Gael Leader Enda Kenny, Minister of Justice, Michael Mc Dowell, EU Commissioner, David Byrne, Professor Brendan Walsh UCD, Tommie Gorman RTE and numerous others from many walks of life.
