Glenties Notes on July 12th 2001

Maeve, daughter of Charlie and Kathleen Ward, Buncrubog and Martin Bell were married in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday 30th June 2001. Fr. Patrick Prendergast, Glenties, assisted by Fr. Hugh Sweeney, Glenfin officiated and celebrated Nuptial Mass. Martin is a son of Sadie and the late Victor Bell, Glenfin. The bride was given away by her father and was attended by her sisters, Miriam Ward and Rosemary Langan. The groom’s brothers Brendan and George were bestman and groomsman. Chloe Langan and Mark Ward, niece and nephew of the bride were flowergirl and pageboy. Readings were by Pat Ward and Bernadette Bell, brother of the bride and sister of the groom. Natasha, Shane and John Anthony Bell and Grainne Ward read Prayers of the Faithful. Both mothers brought the Gifts to the Altar. The reception was held in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties and the honeymoon was spent touring.

Congratulations to Frank O ‘Donnell who recently received the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy for Research in the Department of Design, Manufacture and Engineering Management from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Frank is a son of Paddy and Kathleen O ‘Donnell, Ardconnell, Glenties, who travelled to Glasgow for the occasion.

Congratulations to Dave Mulhern, Kilraine, a teacher in St. Columba’s Comprehensive School, Glenties, who recently won the Golden Masters Handball Championship Title in Mullingar

Congratulations to Ann Marie Kennedy, daughter of Patrick and Mary, Lower Main Street, Glenties who won a trip to New York on “Fame and Fortune” on Saturday night.

Mass will be celebrated in The Old Graveyard, on the Glen Road at 7.30p.m. on Thursday 19th July and in The New Graveyard on Sunday 29th July at 3.00p.m. Graveyard Mass in Edeninfagh is on Sunday 12th August at 3.00p.m.
