Glenties Notes on June 30th 2005

Mass will be celebrated in the New Graveyard, Glenties on Sunday 17th July and in Edeninfagh Graveyard on Sunday 7th August.

The 25th annual Patrick MacGill Summer School takes place this year from 17th July until 22nd July.

The death took place peacefully at her home of Anna Mc Dougall, Ardconnell, Glenties on Thursday 23rd June 2005. Her remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday 25th. Fr. Patrick Prendergast P.P. celebrated Requiem Mass. Readings were by her son John and her niece Nora Mc Swiggan. Prayers of the Faithful were read by granddaughters, Eileen, Lisa, Lynn and Catherine Mc Nelis and the Gifts were brought to the Altar by her granddaughters Julie Darnell, Anna Lassus and great-granddaughters Erin Marie and Kelly Darnell. Music and singing was by Pat and John Francis O’ Donnell. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Anna is survived by her daughters Nora Lassus, Mill Road, Glenties and Ann Mc Nelis, Ardara, son John, Scotland, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Her husband Michael died in 1966 and her sister Mary Kate Mc Swiggan died in 2000. Anna celebrated her 90th Birthday in January of this year.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Vincent Reilly, Dublin who died suddenly last week at his home. Vincent was the husband of Marina (nee Sweeney) formerly of Letterilly, Glenties and son-in-law of Bridget and the late Packie Sweeney.

A tragic car accident occurred at Maas, Glenties in the early hours of Sunday morning. One young girl from Donegal Town died as a result of the accident and three others were injured. Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of the girl and our prayers and good wishes for a speedy recovery go out to those who were injured.

The Entente Florale committee will be hosting a welcome dinner for the international adjudicators on 20th July in the Highlands Hotel at 7.30p.m. Tickets are available from Rosemary Ward at 087 9692076 or Sinead Boyle, Highlands Hotel at 9551111. Tickets are priced at €25 including wine. Places are limited so book early and avoid disappointment. Everyone is welcome.
