Glenties Notes on May 30th 2000

GLENTIES HARVEST FAIR
The programme of events is currently in the process of being finalised. All hotels and pubs were requested to provide details of music-entertainment for the period from Thursday Sept 7th – Tuesday 12th Sept to Colm Campbell. To ensure inclusion in the actual programme all details must be with Colm Campbell by Tuesday June 6th at the latest. Can anyone imagine a six day festival of events being organised and there being no funfare for the children of the locality? Such is the case this year! The commmittee has scoured the town for a suitable venue being made available, and, various property owners have been asked but to no avail. The festival will be devalued substancially should a venue not be found. Please inform any committee member by Tuesday 6th June should you  be aware of a suitable venue.
The float parade was a tremendous success last year and it is hoped this can be built on. All local business and clubs and associations should be drawing up plans at this stage and be making necessary preparations.
