Glenties Notes on October 11th 2000

Christine Gallagher and Liam Frize were married in St. Mark’s Church, Dorchester, Boston, USA on Friday 15th September 2000. Christine is a daughter of Cormac and Eileen Gallagher, Main Street, Glenties and Liam is a son of Jim and Annie Frize, Churchill.

Her father gave the bride away and two friends, Colleen and Celine were bridesmaids. The groom’s brother Terry was bestman and the bride’s brother Laurence was groomsman. Readings were by Kathleen Frize, sister of the groom. Elaine Gallagher, sister of the bride and friend of the groom, Denise Mc Grenera read Prayers of the Faithful. Both mothers brought the Gifts to the Altar. The reception was held in Adam’s Inn and the honeymoon was spent in Florida.

Adult Ceili Classes are starting in the Limelight, Glenties, on Sunday 15th October from 6pm. – 8pm. and will continue every Sunday evening.

Barn Dancing classes in the Highlands Hotel every Monday from 9pm. – 11pm.

The Millennium Fancy Dress Ball will take place in The Limelight, Glenties on Sunday 29th October. Music is by Mary B. and The Monsters and admission is £5. There will be cash prizes for best individual and best group so put on your thinking caps now and be in with a chance of winning a prize on the night.

Last year everyone had a most enjoyable time at the Witches Ball and if the same effort is made for this year’s Fancy Dress Ball it should be a great success.

Congratulations to Mary and Kevin O’Donnell, Narin Road and ‘Paper Stop’, Glenties on the birth of their first child, a baby boy, in Sligo Hospital on Sunday 8th October 2000.
