Glenties Notes on October 18th 2000

Christina Mc Ginty, Tallaght, Dublin was one of the panellists on ‘The Sunday Game’ on Network 2 on Sunday 1st October 2000 after the Women’s All Ireland Football Final between Mayo and Waterford. Christina who is a Coach Administrator of the Thomas Davis Club in Tallaght is a daughter of Mary (nee Mc Cole, Glen Road, Glenties) and Chris Mc Ginty, Tallaght.

Congratulations to Ciara Boyle, Glen Road, Glenties and David Hennigan, Ardara who got engaged last Saturday.

Congratulations to Grace and Dessie O’Donnell, Tullycleave, Ardara on the birth of their second child, Darragh, on Saturday 14th October 2000, a brother for Shane. Dessie is a son of Jack and Nora O’ Donnell, Ard Patrick, Glenties.

Congratulations to Declan Flannery who won a top cocktail-making competition – “Cocktail of the Carnival” at the Caulfield Cup Competition in the State of Victoria, Australia. Declan is a son of Margaret and Tommy Flannery, Ardun, Glenties.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Teresa Mc Nelis, Narin Road, Paddy Mc Devitt, Tullyard Road and Tony Mc Devitt, Gortnasillagh on the death of their aunt, Kathleeen Shiels, Rosbeg and Gortnasillagh, which took place on Wednesday 11th October 2000.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Barbara Breslin (nee Mc Dyre, Derries, Glenties) on the death of her husband, Josie Breslin, Ardara which took place on Monday 9th October and to his daughters, Mary Nicholls, Derries and Geraldine Ferguson, Kilraine on the death of their father. Sincere sympathy also to Josie’s sister, Nan Gallagher, Glen Road, Glenties and to the other members of the family.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the wife and family of Paddy Mooney, Doohil, Ardara who died in Letterkenny Hospital on Saturday 14th October. Paddy’s wife Kitty was formerly Mc Dyre from Derries, Glenties. Sympathy also to Paddy’s brother, James, who lives in Ard Patrick, Glenties.

The Sacrament of Confirmation for the Parish of Inniskeel in the year 2001will be administered in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Sunday 29th April at 11a.m.

Children from Drimnacrosh N. S., Kilkenny N. S. and Scoil Mhuire will receive First Holy Communion in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday 9th June at 11a.m.

Tin Whistle Classes have commenced in the Community Centre, Glenties on Saturdays from 10.30 a.m. For further information contact Siobhan at 075-51335.
