Defibrillators

David Kelch from Naomh Conall CLG said that they had now acquired 2 defibrillators one was being held at the Club and they were anxious that the other be housed somewhere in the Community with 24 hour access. The Garda Station was suggested and Garda. Doyle was to investigate if this was possible. There are 20 people in the area trained in the use of the defibrillators.

Substance Abuse

David Kelch also advised that a drug and alcohol abuse awareness programme was at an advanced stage for delivery to interested groups.

Rural Transport

A meeting of the Rural Transport Scheme was attended by the Chairman and it is proposed to develop two routes into the town on Fridays, one from Edeninfagh & down the Back Glen, the other out the Fintown Road to Beannas and then round Cleegort and up by Kilkenny & Maas. It is proposed to allow those using the scheme 2 hours in town.

Sewer

Clr Slowey advised that the final tender documents were now gone to DOE for final approval. It was agreed to write to all the TDs and also to the Fisheries Board.

Ard Connell

The pipe work has been replaced and the footpath is still to be completed.

Housing

Clr Slowey advised that there are approximately 40 on the Council housing list in the Glenties area.

Church car park

The Church was congratulated on the excellent job that was done on the car park.

Condolences

Condolences were extended to the Garda Siochanna on the tragic death of Garda Robbie McCallion. Garda. Doyle advised that a book of condolence was open in the Garda Station.

Library

The meeting was advised that the County Librarian would be prepared to accept a portacabin as a suitable accommodation for a library. The GARR committee were to meet with the County Librarian on April 21st to discuss their project. They are hopeful of having a feasibility study approved shortly.

Tidy Towns

The electrical devices clean up was very successful with two forty foot containers being filled. It was requested that a power street sweeper/ washer be hired to remove dirt and dust from the road sides.

The next meeting will be 14th May at 9:00pm in the Highlands Hotel
