Scout Group in Glenties

Interest has been expressed in starting a Scout Group in Glenties, and a meeting has been arranged to discuss the possibility. Kevin Ferguson the Support Officer for Scouting Ireland will be there to explain what it takes to get a Scout Group up and running.

Scouting Ireland is a multi- denominational organisation that delivers the Scouting programme to both boys and girls from the age of 6 to 18 years. Like any new group, getting adult volunteers to help out is vital to the success of a new group. Any adults (over the age of 18) who would be willing to give a few hours per week voluntarily, to support children in the local community and who would like to give it a go, would be given all the training, help and support they would need to run a successful Group.

It is intended to hold the open evening for adults who may be interested in finding out more about setting up a new Group in the area in The Highlands Hotel on Wednesday 20th May at 8.00pm. All are welcome.
