Naomh Conaill Notes 28th February 2012

There was no winner of last weeks lotto. The numbers drawn were 5,7,8 & 11. Two prizes of €50 went to Jean Boyle Ardara and May Kennedy Kilraine Glenties. Next weeks jackpot is €3,600.

Congratulations to Cathal Ellis who was a member of the DCU team that won the Sigerson cup.

Membership for 2012 is now due. Adult membership is €30 and €10 for youth. There is also €100 membership which includes membership and entry into the weekly lotto. There will be a registration night in the Clubhouse on Friday 2nd March between 8 & 9pm. The closing date for membership is Saturday 31st March.

The club will be having a Scrap Saturday at the end of March so start gathering all your old scrap now. There will be more details next week.

The U-16′s commence their league campaign this Suday 4th March away to Dungloe @ 12 noon.

There was no winner of this weeks lotto. The numbers drawn were 1,13,19 &24. Two prizes of €50 went to Thomas Donaghue Naomh Conaill senior team and Charles Mc Carron Brockagh Dungloe. Next weeks jackpot is €3,500.

The 5th draw in the 200 club took place at the Community centre bingo on Tuesday 14th February. 1st prize €500 P. Bonner Derryloughan. 5 prizes of €100 each – David Kelch Narin Road, Olivia Hegarty Mullantyboyle, John Timoney Fintown, Michael Glynn Loughcrillan and Marie Carr Narin.

There is an Umpires course in Jackson’s Hotel Ballybofey on Wednesday 29th February @ 7.30pm. Anyone interested is asked to contact club secretary Patsy Furey.

Membership for 2012 is now due. Adult membership is €30 and youth is €10. There is also €100 membership which membership and entry into the weekly lotto. Membership forms are available from the clubs website.

The draw took place for the 2012 Championship. The seniors and reserves have been drawn against St. Nauls, the U-21′s have Bundoran while the 3rd’s have been drawn against Naomh Ultan.

At the clubs presentation dance on Saturday 18th February a large crowd gathered to see the Senior team receive their Division One League medals and the Senior Ladies team receive their Gaeltacht medals and Championship runner-up medals. The award winners were Senior Player of the year Stephen Mc Grath, Reserve Player James Doherty, 3rd team player Jamie Mc Hugh, Most improved player Jamie Gallagher, Senior Ladies player Michelle Boyle and Most improved ladies player Siobhan Mc Devitt. Other presentations were made to the Senior team managers and backroom team. the Ladies manager and backroom team. the 6 Naomh Conaill players who were members of the Donegal team that won the Ulster football championship,the 4 Naomh Conaill players who were members of the winning All-Ireland Vocational school team. Presentations were also made to Jim Mc Guinness Donegal senior team manager and his wife Yvonne and to Jim Farrell Chairman of the Donegal Ladies board.

Good luck to Eoin Waide and Leo Mc Loone who are members of UUJ and to Cathal Ellis a member of DCU who are in the Sigerson Cup semi final (UUJ v DCU) this Saturday in Galway.

At the clubs executive meeting last week Martin Doherty and Stephen Mc Kelvey were appointed Senior team managers, Connie Doherty U-21 and Martin Shankey Smith Vice-Chairman. Congratulations to all on there appointments.

The 4th draw in the 200 club took place last Tuesday night at the Community centre bingo and the winners were – €500 Conal Gallagher, Mill Road, Glenties. 5 prizes of €100 each went to Aaron Thompson Ard Mc Gill, Kevin Mc Hugh The Rock, Roísín Bonner Glen Road, Joe Kennedy Kilraine and Francsi Houston The Co-op.

Naomh Conaill Notes 4th January 2012

The minor boards presentation evening for U-13s, 14s and 16s was held in the M25 last Wednesday 28th Dec. A formidable array of medals were presented to these teams in respect of the various successes they had during 2011 at Regional and County level. Our county senior players Anthony Thompson, Leo Mc Loone, Dermot Molloy, Marty Boyle and Eoin Waide presented the seven sets of medals. Marty addressed the crowd on behalf of the clubs county players, club chairman Peter Mc Kelvey, minor board chairman Poggy O’Donnell, U-13 & U-14 manager Seosamh Mc Kelvey and U-16 manager Michael Gallagher all spoke in glowing terms of the excellent work that is being done. A presentation was made to Seosamh Mc Kelvey by JD Boyle and Ethan O’Donnell . The teams three main sponsors Raudon Teoranta, Tazetta Ltd and Dohertys sawmills were thanked as were the management of the M25 for the use of their premises and new local band ‘Obsession’ who provided excellent music. On Friday 30th another large crowd gathered for the U8s, 10s and 12s presentation in the Community centre. A very enjoyable evening was had by all. Minor board chairman Poggy O’Donnell welcomed everyone to the annual presentation. Dermot Molloy presented medals to U-8s, Eoin Waide to U-10s and Leo Mc Loone to U-12s. The respective managers Martin Doherty, Martin Shanky Smith and Kevin O’Donnell thanked all who helped in any way throughout the year and to all who sponsored the under 8,10 & 12 teams. A big thank you to the ladies who organised tea and refreshments for the large crowd and to Brian Boyle who provided the music.

Underage presentation for U-8′s, U-10′s & U-12′s is on Friday 30th December @ 6pm in the community centre.
