Glenties Notes 10th September 2014

New Arrivals:
Congratulations to Lorraine and Raymond Brennan, Altar Road, Stranaglough, Glenties on the birth recently of their twins. Two little sisters for Annie, Thomas and Sophie.

Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Mary Breslin, wife of the late Francie Breslin, Kilraine, who died on Tuesday 2nd September 2014 and was buried in Kilraine Graveyard on Friday after Requiem Mass in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties, celebrated by Fr. Pat Prendergast.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the wife and family, relatives and friends of Frank Connaghan, Main St. Glenties who died last Sunday 7th September 2014.

Part Time Cleaner:
A part Time Cleaner is wanted in Scoil Mhuire, Glenties. Applications should be received by Monday 15th September. Apply in writing to “The Principal, Scoil Mhuire, Glenties.

The Biddy Devine Fundraiser:
The Amount raised for The Kidney Dialysis Comfort Fund, Letterkenny Hospital, was € 5,383.00. The Committee wish to Thank Everyone who took part in the events, gave donations, or sponsored the weekend in any way. Thanking you for your continued support.

Tír Chonaill Athletics Club:
Tír Chonaill Athletics Club will resume training on Tuesday 9th September at St. Columba’s Comprehensive School Gym from 6.30 p.m. – 8 p.m. (Children can be dropped off from 6.30 p.m. only). The Athletic Club is open to all children aged 8 years and upwards. All new members are welcome. Copy of birth certificate is required. Bring suitable clothing and drinking water please. Bingo Winners:
The winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 2nd September were – € 50 winners – James Peak, Nancy Dorrian, Brenda Reid, Ann Maire Gillen, Breege Gallagher, Nellie Doherty, Patrick Sweeney, Ann Mc Keown, Norah Mc Hugh, Amanda O’ Connell, Norah Mc Hugh, Fiona Coughlan, Sally Mc Hugh, Maggie O’ Donnell and Kathleen Griffin; € 60 Winner – Kathleen Mc Glynn; €100 Winners – Rosaleen Melly, Amanda O’ Connell, Moya Gallagher, Rosemary Whelan, Maggie Bonner, John Mc Loone, Maggie O’Donnell, Philomena Mc Callig, Maggie O’ Donnell; € 300 Winner – Stephan Gallagher.

Glenties Community Centre:
Bingo is held in Glenties Community Centre every Tuesday Night at 9 p.m.

Snooker:
Snooker room is open Monday to Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Tai Chi:
Tai Chi classes resumed on Wednesday 3rd September 8 p.m. -9.30 p.m.

CE scheme:
New CE scheme starts on 22nd September 2014, any one willing to start contact 087 9695053 for more details. FAS criteria apply.

Bowls:
Bowls recommenced on Monday 1st September 2014.

15 Km Walk:
The Parents and Teachers of The Naíonra, Fintown and S.N. Cholmcille, Fintown are taking part in the Airtricity Meentycat Windfarm 15 km Walk on the 27th of September. Participating walkers can enjoy views of Donegal’s most stunning natural land marks including Mount Errigal & Barnesmore Gap. It is not a race therefore it can be as leisurely or as speedy as you wish. The walk can be started any time from 9.00 a.m. to 12 noon. If anyone is interested in joining either of the two groups above or would like more information on the event, please ring Kathleen on 087 243 1910 for S.N.
