Glenties Notes 25th May 2013
Congratulations:
Congratulations to the girls from Scoil Mhuire, Glenties, who won the Ulster title in Gortakeegan, Monaghan in the Girls Primary School 5 a side Soccer Competition. They are now through to the All Ireland Final in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin next Saturday 25th May. We wish them the very best and hopefully on Saturday another All Ireland Title will be coming to Glenties and Donegal. Members of the team are – Bronagh Gallagher, Niamh O’ Donnell, Shana Quinn, Sophie Connaughton, Amy Boyle Carr, Danielle Mc Devitt, Orlaigh Mc Guinness and Niamh Agnew.
The Late Bernadette Herron:
The death took place, after a short illness, of Bernadette Herron, Letterilly, Glenties, in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, on Tuesday 7th May 2013. Her Remains were brought to the home of her son, Francis and daughter-in-law, Patricia, in Letterilly on Wednesday 8th and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Friday morning. Fr. Pat Prendergast assisted by Fr. Philip Daly and Fr. John Boyce concelebrated Requiem Mass at 11a.m. Family members did the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar. A Reflection, written by Conor Doherty, was read by Eimear Herron. Music and singing was by John F. O’ Donnell, Kevin and Ciara Herron. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Bernadette is survived by her husband Patrick, three sons, Francis, Michael and Conal, one daughter, Bridget, grandchildren, Emily, Lara and Kellie, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Two brothers Gerard and Frank predeceased her.

St. Riaghan’s N. S., Drimnacrosh:
A’ Cash for Clobber Collection’ will take place at the school on Tuesday 28th May; organised by the Green Team. The school will receive a cash donation for each well filled ‘Cash for Clobber’ or bin liner size bag. Money collected will go towards school funds. Filled bags can be brought to the school on Monday 27th or early Tuesday morning. This collection is part of the Green School’s Initiative that is on-going within the school, and is an opportunity to get rid of unwanted clothes, shoes and textiles, in an environmentally friendly way. Sincere sympathy is extended to Breege Roarty, and family, Ard McGill, Glenties on the death recently, of Breege’s brother, Martin Joseph Connor, Belmullet, Co. Mayo.
Sincere sympathy is extended to Martin Regan and family, Mill Road, Glenties on the death of Martin’s brother, Pauric Regan, Hollymount, Co. Mayo, which took place last week.
Sincere sympathy is extended to Patricia Molloy, Claire Keeney and Rosaleen Melly on the death of their sister, Bridie Hughes (nee Mc Hugh, Kilclooney), which took place recently; also to all the relatives and friends.
First Holy Communion:
Congratulations to the children, who received their First Holy Communion in St. Colmcille’ Church, Fintown.
First Holy Communion for the children of St. Riaghan’s Drimnacrosh, Kilkenny N.S. and Scoil Mhuire will take place in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties at 11.00 a.m. Saturday 25th May. First Holy Communion for the children of Edeninfagh N.S. will take place at 12 mid-day on Sunday 26th May.
Graveyard Sunday:
Mass will be celebrated in the New Graveyard, Glenties on Sunday 7th July at 3.00 p.m.
Mass will be celebrated in Edeninfagh Graveyard on Sunday 11th August at 3.00 p.m.
Glenties Community Centre:
Bingo every Tuesday night at 9 p.m. Every Line € 50, every House €100. Jackpot, if not won, will be € 6,600 on Tuesday 28th May. If not won € 300 will be paid out. In-house draws. Anyone wishing to rent a room in the Community Centre please ring 087 2679321.
