Glenties Notes 3rd February 2010

New Arrival
Congratulations to Alison and Kieran Mc Monagle, Letterkenny on the birth of their first child, a baby boy (Conor). Alison is a daughter of Hugh Brendan and Rose Mc Dyer, Ard Mc Gill, Glenties.

Sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to the husband, family, mother, brothers and sister, relatives and friends of Concepta Harvey (nee Boyle) who died last week in Dublin. Concepta was a daughter of Teresa and the late Alphie Boyle, Mill Road, Glenties.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of Bridget Mc Devitt, Largnalarkin, who died last week in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Stranorlar and was buried in Fintown on Saturday 23rd January.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Annie Quinn, Mill Road, Glenties on the death of her sister, Maureen Duffy, Aranmore Island, who died in Galway on Thursday 28th January 2010. Her remains were brought to Aranmore for burial.

Degrees
Congratulations to the Bonner sisters, Caroline and Helena who were recently conferred with degrees in doctorates of Science (PhD) from The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, where they are currently working as Research Scientists in Diabetes and Neuroscience. Caroline and Helena are daughters of Joe and Marie Bonner, Buncrubog, Glenties and are past pupils of the Girls Convent School, and St. Columba’s Comprehensive School, Glenties.

Glenties Community Alert
The A.G.M. of Glenties Community Alert will take place in the Day Centre, Dr. Mc Closkey Crescent on Thursday 4th February at 8.00 p.m. All are welcome.

No Uniform Day for Haiti
Thanks to all the parents and extended families of the pupils in Scoil Mhuire, Glenties, for their very generous response to this Fundraising event, in aid of the poor people of Haiti. The amount raised was over €1,000.

Haiti Fundraiser
The Staff and Pupils of St. Riaghan’s N.S. Drimnacrosh wish to sincerely thank all parents and extended families for their generous donations towards our recent Fundraising Day for Haiti. A total of €620 was raised on the day, which will go directly towards the relief effort.

Collection
The Church Gate Collection taken up recently for the Lourdes Invalid Fund amounted to €811. Thank you to all those who donated so generously.

Dinner Dance
The Annual Naomh Conaill GAA Dinner Dance will take place in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties this Saturday night 6th February.

Children from Chernobyl
Host families are required for recuperative holiday for Children from Chernobyl for 3 / 4 weeks in July. Weekly activities are organized and translators are available at all times. One week here can boost their immune system, and add a year to their life. For more information contact Phelim at 074 932108.
