Glenties Notes on January 15th 2004

The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital on Thursday 1st January 2004 of Bridget Gallagher, Meenahalla, Glenties. Her remains were brought to her home on Friday and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Sunday. Fr. Patrick Prendergast P.P. Glenties celebrated Requiem Mass. Readings and Prayers of the Faithful were by Bridget’s grandchildren, Kevin and Amy Gallagher and J.J. Maloney. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Bridget is survived by her husband, John, daughters, Mary and Bernadette, sons, Neilie and John, brother, Packie Brennan, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended.

The death took place at the home of his daughter Bried Stafford in Monasterevin, Co. Kildare, of Johnny Given, Mill Road, Glenties on Saturday 3rd January 2004. His remains were brought to his home later that evening and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Monday. Fr. Patrick Prendergast P. P. Glenties assisted by Fr. Kevin Gillespie C.C. Fintown celebrated Requiem Mass. Readings were by Johnny’s daughter, Mairead Corry and a grandson, Ciaran Stafford. Conor Stafford, Melissa Wynne, Shaun Dooley and Shane Given, read Prayers of the Faithful. Aoife Dooley, Daragh and Mairead Stafford, Cillian Corry and Aidan Given brought the Gifts to the Altar. All are Johnny’s grandchildren. Music and singing was by Sr. Rosaleen, Denise Boyle and Amanda Mc Guigan. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Johnny is survived by daughters, Bried, Sheila, Mairead and Rosaleen, sons, Seamus and Sean, sister, Bernadette Mc Kelvey, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Johnny’s wife Rita died in 1991. His brother, Tom and sister, Rosha died last year. His sisters, Annie, Mary, Margaret and Bridie, and brother, Phil also predeceased him.

The Sacrament of Confirmation for the Parish of Iniskeel will be administered in St. Colmcille’s Church, Fintown, on Sunday 21st March 2004 at 11.00a.m.

The First Holy Communion Mass for the children of St. Riaghan’s, Drimnacrosh, and Scoil Mhuire, Glenties, will be celebrated in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday 15th May at 11.00a.m.
