Glenties Notes on June 25th 2001

Graveyard Mass in Glenties this year is on Sunday 29th July at 3.00p.m. and in Edeninfagh on Sunday 12th August at 3.00p.m.

Congratulations to Kathleen and Michael Corduff, Dublin, who celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary recently. Kathleen is a daughter of Francie and Josie Houston, The Rock, Glenties.

Congratulations to Fiona Breslin, Ard Patrick, Glenties and Laurence Breslin, Ardara who got engaged recently.

Congratulations to P.J. Gallagher and Sinead Corr who were married on Sunday 17th June ’01 in Ballygarry Church, Cavan. P.J. is a son of Annie and the late Connie Gallagher, The Mines, Kilraine and Sinead is a daughter of George and Stella Corr, Listern, Cavan. The bride was given away by her father and was attended by her sisters, Jennifer Corr and Rhona Creegan. Christy Gallagher, brother of the groom was bestman and a friend, Padraig Cunnane, was groomsman. Sophie Corr and Aimee Gallagher, nieces of the bride and groom were flowergirls and Jack Corr, nephew of the bride was a pageboy. Readings were by Martin Donaghue, friend of the groom and Enda Corr, brother of the bride. Eileen Gallagher, sister-in-law of the groom and Geraldine Mulcaire, friend of the couple brought the Gifts to the Altar. The reception was held in the Slieve Russell Hotel, Cavan and the honeymoon is being spent in Australia.

Bridie Mc Mullin, Ardconnell, Glenties died in Strangriff Nursing Home, Stranorlar on Tuesday 19th June ’01. Her remains came to her home later that day and were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Wednesday evening. Fr. Prendergast P.P. celebrated Requiem Mass on Thursday morning. Readings were by nephews, Sean Houston and Patsy Mc Hugh, and niece Rosaleen Devally read the Psalm. Music was by Sr. Immaculata on the organ. Burial took place in the New Cemetery. Bridie spent a good part of her life in America before returning home some years ago. She is survived by sisters, Josie Houston, The Rock, Mary Mc Hugh, Ardconnell, Glenties, Teresa Mc Mullin, Frosses, Kathleen Rowe, Devon, and one brother, Tommy Mc Mullin, Boston, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Four sisters, Aggie, Rosha, Nan and Chris predeceased Bridie.
