Naomh Conaill GAA Club Notes 18th August 2016

There was no winner of this week Gaa Lotto; the numbers drawn out were 3-18-22-24 and the 2x€50 went to Martin Mc Taggart, Summy and Hugh Gallagher, Loughcrillin Next week’s Jackpot will be €7,800.

Congratulations to Cian Doherty and Keelin Mc Monagle who represented Naomh Conaill playing for Donegal in the Buncrana Cup last weekend. Well done lads.

Best wishes to Naomh Browne who will compete in the half time exhibition game at this Sundays All Ireland semi-final in Croke Park. Naomh was one of two players from Donegal selected to play in the match following county school trials held earlier this year. Good luck Naomh.

Naomh Conaill would like to congratulate Glenties Services on a fantastic opening day last Sunday and good luck in the future.

Naomh Conaill are hosting a Quiz night this Saturday 28th May in Kennedys Bar at 9:30pm. All proceeds will go to Naomh Conaill Gaeltachta expenses. Come along and support this Quiz for a fun night, Teams of 4 people €20 per team. Raffle prizes on the night.

Naomh Conaill would like to thank Robert Farrell who done the Waar challenge and his money raised is going to Naomh Conaill minor board. Well done Robert. Robert Farrell is doing the WAAR challenge in the 14th May 2016 and all his proceeds raised are going towards the Naomh Conaill minor board. Robert will have sponsorship cards in all businesses around town and all minor board managers + Robert himself. Total distance is 53K* including; 7.5k Run along the Wild Atlantic Coastline, 42.5k broken Cycle along the Wild Atlantic Way, 2k Hike with views over the hills of Donegal and 1k kayak on Loughanure Lake. Robert also has prizes for winner picked out from the sponsorship cards on the 21st May so if you see a sponsorship card please sponsor Robert.

Congratulations to our minor team on winning the minor regional league final over Ardara last week in Glencolmcille with a score of 4-13 to 1-7.

Naomh Conaill senior and reserve teams had two great victories in the league last Saturday at home against Ardara. The next league game will be Sunday 22nd May at home against Glenswilly at 1:30pm and 3pm.

Fixtures: U-12s opening league game is against Dungloe this Wednesday 11th May on the Comp field at 7pm. Wednesday 18th away v Ardara at 7pm

County Minor League Semi Final is on Wed 11th May in O Donnell Park at 730pm v St Michaels

Naomh Conaill will play their first round of the Michael Murphy sport championship group D match at home against Termon this Saturday 14th May at 1:30pm and 3pm.

Naomh Conaill membership for 2016 can be paid from now to 31st march 2016. Youth membership €20, Adult membership €40 or €100 includes €2 entry each week to lotto Membership forms can be got in the Inniskeel coop Glenties or from Murial Hegarty or contact any executive member.

Club Membership will be taking this Saturday 19th March between 7-8pm in Fintown.

Naomh Conaill Gaa are asking all members for help for the Donegal Gaeltacht this May, If you are available to help out in any way as in stewarding, Kitchen, Lotto, Shop can you please contact any executive member asap. There will be a meeting regarding the Gaeltacht in the clubhouse on Thursday 24th March at 8pm. Please attend.

Naomh Conaill will be collecting for Irish language at mass on St Patricks Day.

Well done to our U14 who started the league with a 1-11 to 1-6 victory away to Ardara. They are at home v Aodh Ruadh this Saturday at 12pm.

Naomh Conaill Minors had a successful start with a 7-16 to 0-7 win over Killybegs. They are at home v Ardara next Tuesday.

Our Seniors and Reserves start the league this weekend at home v Termon on Sunday and take note the two teams have agreed to play the games in reverse order Seniors at 1.30pm and reserves at 3pm.

Club Membership can be paid this Sunday from 12-1.30pm in the clubhouse before the senior game.

Anybody interested in playing football this year must have their membership paid before the 31st March.

Championship Draws were made this week Senior and reserve Termon, Gweedore and Four Masters in group D. Our U21s have Naomh Mhuire and senior C(3rd team) Ardara and Mac Cumhaills.

Congratulations to Rose and all her Mentors and the U16 Naomh Conaill Girls on becoming County Champions on Saturday last with a victory over Moville in Castlefin.

Naomh Conaill would like to give a massive Thanks to Martin Regan, Cathal Corey all the background mentors and the Senior panel for a fantastic year we had, winning the County Gaeltacht, Donegal senior County Championship and only six days later to win the All Ireland Gaeltacht. What a fantastic year this group of people have giving us and we are all proud of every one of you.

The Harvest Fair is only around the corner so we would like to ask all club members to help out to sell our club tickets the fair weekend and also to get involved and get a gang/team together and join in on the float parade as much a success as it was last year bigger and better this year.

Its Championship week again as Naomh Conaill senior and reserve travel to O’Donnell Park Letterkenny on Sunday 23rd August to take on St Eunans with a throw in time of 4.30pm and 6.00pm in round 2 of the Donegal senior Championship. Naomh Conaill came out on top of round 1 with a 2-14 to 1-8 Senior and 2-7 to 0-4 Reserve win at home vs Dungloe. Next week Naomh Conaill will travel to Ardara in the final round of the group stage.
