Tír Chonaill GAP Cycling Club
After being rescheduled due to adverse weather conditions, Tír Chonaill GAP CC ran a very successful event with over 100 cyclists taking part in 3 different route options, a 30k, 60k and 120k route, which really tested a lot of the participants. The club would like to take this opportunity to thank a number of people who made the event the success it was, firstly thanks to the 100+ cyclists without whom the event wouldn’t happen, thanks to the drivers of the lead vans and sweeper vans, the motorcycle marshals, the Gardaí and the marshals back at base in Glenties, thanks to the St. Johns Ambulance personnel who attended, (thankfully we had no major casualty’s!!), to the photographers and water stop attendants who did great work on the 3 routes, also to the Highlands Hotel for providing their ballroom for the refreshments afterwards, to the Day Care Centre and Comprehensive school for the use of their buildings, great appreciation to the businesses and people that kindly sponsored food and drinks, last but by no means least, the ladies of the club who did Trojan work to dish out the soup, sandwiches and tea to the hungry cyclists! We’re looking forward to a busy winter and are in the process of organising some mountain biking events so keep checking in on the website for updates: www.TirChonaillGAPcc.com

The 2011 cycle raised over €10,000 between the group parishes of Ardara, Glencolmcille, Glenties, Lettermacaward and Inniskeel. Various charities throughout the group benefited from this. They are: Hospice Palliative Care, Carrick Vocational School, Glenties Tidy Towns, St Bridget’s Hall, Lettermacaward, Oncology Unit Letterkenny Hospital, Donegal Hospice, Portnoo & Rosbeg Care of the Aged and Parish Funds. We would like to thank all those who helped in any way to run this event. We also thank the Marshalls and First Aid personnel and last but by no means least the Cyclists, but for them the event would not happen. All your help and support is very much appreciated.
