Glenties Notes 6th October 2011

Friends of Letterkenny Hospital
The Friends of Letterkenny Hospital wish to thank everyone who contributed to their Annual Harvest Fair Day Collection. The amount raised was € 776.90.

Jiving Lessons
Jiving lessons started in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties on Monday 26th September at 9.00 p.m. Seamus Melvin is the dancing teacher. Everyone is welcome.

Glenties Community Centre
Bingo takes place every Tuesday night in the Community Centre, Glenties at 9 p.m. Every Line is € 50, every House is € 100 and the Jackpot is € 400. In house Draws also take place. Snooker every evening except Tuesday, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The winners last Tuesday 27th September were – Mary Gallagher, Leitir won the Jackpot of € 400. Sharon Cunningham, Eileen Gallagher, Mary MacGill, Ann Marion Sweeney, Irene Langan, Fintown, Anna Cannon, Auveen Gallagher, Susie Connaghan, Killybegs, Margaret Cunningham, Killybegs and May Kennedy, Kilraine won € 100 each. Margaret Murray won € 60. Gracie O’ Hara, Philomena Mc Callig, Ellen Anne Orphan, Gerry Doherty, P. Moore, Sally Mc Guigan, Fiona Boyle, Marian Ward, Patsy Martin, Denise Campbell and Annie Deane, Kilcar won € 50 each.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal
If you wish to take part in this worthwhile charity, leaflets are available in the local shops. Filled boxes can be left in Glenties Post Office. For further information contact Hazel Barrett on 0871390242.

Vacancy for Childcare Relief Worker
Qualification – Suitably qualified to Major award in Fetac Level 5 in Childcare, to include Special Needs (or equivalent) is essential. Preference will be given to those who possess Level 6 in Supervision in Childcare and Special Needs (or equivalent), Experience of working in a formal Childcare setting and an ability to be available to work flexible hours. The Friends of Letterkenny General Hospital will hold their Annual Church Gate Collection this weekend on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October.

The Dungloe Branch of the Mental Health Association wishes to thank you for your generosity to their recent Church Gate Collection. The Total raised in Glenties was € 447.75.

Kickboxing Classes
Kickboxing Classes for males and females will be held in the Gym behind Scoil Mhuire on Thursdays.  Junior classes will be held from 7.30 p.m. – 8.30 p.m. and adult classes from 8.30 p.m. – 9.30 p.m.  € 4 per session.  Beginners are welcome.  For further information call Aoife at 087 1245587. 

Ladies Keep Fit Classes
Ladies Keep Fit Circuit Training classes (work out for the whole body) have started in Scoil Mhuire Gym on Tuesdays from 7 p.m. – 8.30 p.m. Wear trainers and comfortable clothing.  Come along and enjoy getting fit. The cost is €5.

Glenties Variety Concert
A Variety Concert in aid of Glenties Church of Ireland will be held in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties on Friday 12th November, starting at 8 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served after the concert, followed by dancing to George Bustard, so come along, support this worthy cause and have a good night out for only € 10. 

The winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre Glenties on Tuesday 26th October were – Mickey Herron, Glenties won the jackpot of € 400.  James Deane, Kilcar, Rose Mc Groarty, Frosses, Rosaleen Gallagher, Ardara, Norah Mc Hugh, May Decy, Margo Gallagher and Margaret Gallagher won € 100 each.  Anne Quinn, Jimmy Quinn, Brockagh, Anne Furey, Sandra Moore, Mickey Herron, Glenties, Maura Kilbane, Ardara, Annie Deane, Kilcar, Willie Mc Nelis, Cathlin Griffin, Sadie Sweeney, Nan Donaghy, May Farrell, Patricia Molloy, Sheila Ní Lúigh and Paddy Gill won € 50 each.  John Mc Loone, Mill Road, Nellie Maguire, Frosses, Hazel Staunton, Kilclooney, Norah Mc Hugh, Glenties and Sheila Ní Lúigh won € 20 each. 

Christmas Shoebox Appeal
 This is the last week for getting your shoebox in.  If you haven’t already got leaflets they are in local shops.  If any schools have boxes, and need them collected, contact Hazel Barrett on 087 1390242.  Boxes can be left at Boyle’s Service Station.  Thank you for supporting this worthy cause.
