A host of country music stars will be performing at Owenea FM’s celebration dance at the Nesbitt Arms Hotel, Ardara, on Saturday November 2nd. The line-up, marking the Ardara based community radio station’s return to the airwaves a week later, includes Lisa Stanley, Shaun McMonagle, Gerrard McTaggart and support band Wagon Wheel. A new face to country music, Johnny Garvin from Co. Mayo, will also be appearing.
Tickets for the dance, which will also include a jiving competition to find Owenea FM’s champion for 2013, went on sale this week at just €5. The community radio station, serving Ardara, Glenties, Portnoo and the surrounding area, has recently gained a 100 day licence from Broadcasting Authority Ireland which will allow it to transmit two days a week.
Station manager Pauric Gallagher, said this week: “November 2nd is certainly going to be a big country music night of entertainment to mark our return to the airwaves.” Proceeds from the evening will go towards the conversion costs of its new studio in Kentucky and additional hi-tech equipment. The station stopped transmitting in August.
