Glenties Notes 21st June 2012

New Arrival:
Congratulations to Catriona and Michael Bonner, Naomh Conaill Close, Glenties on the birth recently of their third child, a baby brother (Jenson) for Dion and Amy.

Busking Festival:
This weekend, from Friday 22nd June until Sunday 24th June 2012 the town of Glenties will host it’s first ever Busking Festival. Performers are expected from near and far. Registration takes place on Saturday morning in the Community Centre from 10 a.m. – 12 noon. It will be a festival for all the family as there is a Junior Section for performers aged up to 16 years. Entertainers of all types, as well as musicians can enter the competition, which takes place all day on Saturday on the Main Street. It will be judged under three categories – Talent, Entertainment Value and Crowd Participation. The prize money of € 3500 is very inviting Presentations to the winners of the competition will take place at the Bridge on Main Street at 2 p.m. followed by performances by the winning acts.

Variety Concert:
On Saturday evening June 23rd a variety concert will be held in the Community Centre, Glenties starting at 8.30 p.m. This event is hosted by the Glenties Community Action Group and features The Cookstown Sizzlers and local acts. Admission is € 5 with all proceeds going to Glenties Church of Ireland restoration fund.

Glenties Community Centre:
Bingo in the Glenties Community Centre every Tuesday night at 9 p.m. Every line is €50; every house is €100; the Snowball Jackpot will be €1900 on Tuesday 26th June on 45 numbers; if not won €300 will be paid out. In-house draws; Snooker every night except Tuesday from 6 p.m. Any enquires contact 087 2679321.

Bingo:
Winners at the Bingo in The Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 12th June were – Bernie Bell, Glenfin won € 300; Mary Gaseley, Claire Keeney, Ann Mc Ginley, Margaret Murray, Christine Mc Cool, Helen Mc Dyer, Anne Kennedy, Dungloe, Teresa Mc Kelvey, Fintown, Kathleen Mc Glynn and Breege Roarty won € 100 each; Philomena Mc Callaig, Mary Mc Gill, Mary Gaseley, Paula Hegarty, John O’ Donnell, Sally Mc Guigan, Dinnie Long, Maureen Gildea, Rose Boyle, Dungloe and Mary Kennedy won € 50 each; Mary Gaseley and Anne Timoney won € 25 each; Claire Keeney, Sarah Gallagher, Kathleen Kennedy and Mary Kennedy won € 15 each.

Sheep Dog Trials:
Sheep Dog Trials will be held down the Church Road Glenties beside the GAA field on the 25th and 26th of August 2012. New Health Centre, Glenties:
A Part-Time Caretaker is required for the New Health Centre in Glenties (cleaning service included); employed on a contract for service basis. Care of the Aged Collection:
The Glenties Care of the Aged Committee will hold their annual Church Gate Collection on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June. The proceeds will go to the running cost of our Day Centre.

Glenties Playgroup Summer Camps:
The Camps are on from 2nd July to 20th July – Monday – Friday- 10.30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Open to all children in Glenties and surrounding area; including children visiting the area; Children 3 years – 8 years in the School Building and Children 6 – 12 years in the School Gym / Community Centre. 2nd July – 6th July – Children 6 – 12 years – football with Marty Boyle in School Gym, Children 3 – 8 – Arts and Crafts, Wild Bird Demonstration by Pedro, Cooking, Bouncy Castle in the Pre- School Building. Cake Sale:
There will be a Cake Sale in the Pre-School Building on Friday 22nd June at 12.30 p.m. in aid of Animals in Need, Donegal Town. Please support this worthy cause; thank you.
