Glenties Notes 25th May 2011

New Arrival
Congratulations to Fiona and Laurence Breslin, Ardara on the birth of their fourth child, a baby brother (Finnian) for Alicia, Oisín and Lorcán. Fiona is a daughter of Vera and the late Kevin Breslin, Ard Patrick, Glenties.

Bingo
Winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 17th May were – Nancy Mc Gill and Anne Cannon won € 200 each. Ann Breslin. Claire Keeney, Dim Melly, Patsy Brown, Mrs Monaghan, Nellie Doherty, Mary Kennedy, Sean Carr and Anne Furey won € 100 each. Patricia White, Dan Mc Crudden, Maura Gallagher, Nellie Doherty, Fiona Boyle, Brown Kid, Peter Sweeney, Bid Fletcher, Vera Breslin and Mr. Sweeney won € 50 each. Nan Doherty and Nellie Doherty won € 25 each.

Wedding Bells
Congratulations to Breda O’Donnell, Mullantyboyle, Glenties and John Paul Breslin, Lettermacaward who were married in Glenties on Saturday last.

Sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Sarah Quinn, Mully, Glenties, who died on Tuesday 17th May.

Fintown Festival / Leisure Cycle
In association with Fintown Festival Committee, Tír Chonaill GAP Cycling Club are holding a Leisure Cycle during the Festival, on Saturday 4th June starting at 1 p.m. Registration is at 12 noon. Entry fee is € 22, Club members € 20. Refreshments and shower facilities will be available after. For more information contact James on 087 2546592 or Hughie on 086 8581521. There will be two routes: a 30k and a more challenging 60k.

Medjugorje Peace Mass
The Medjugorje Peace Mass will be celebrated in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Thursday 26th May at 8.00 p.m.
Ladies GAA –‘Wax, Shave and Dye Night’

Please come and support our ‘Wax, Shave and Dye Night’ on Friday 27th May in Melly’s Bar, Glenties at 9 p.m. in aid of the U- 14 Girls Trip to the All Ireland Féile in Cork. Have a fun night and support the girls.

Ulster Champions
Congratulations to the girls from Scoil Mhuire who won the Ulster 5 / side FAI Championships, held in Cavan last Thursday 19th May, having defeated Cavan (8-0), Monaghan (4-0) and Inishowen (7-1) Girls Champions. They will be playing in the All Ireland Finals against the three other provinces in Tullamore on June 1st. The girls have now won the County Gaelic, the County Soccer and Ulster Soccer; not forgetting the boys who won the County Gaelic. Well done to boys and girls and best wishes in the finals. If anyone is interested in travelling to Tullamore contact John Mc Cann at Scoil Mhuire.

Fintown Festival / Vintage Tractor Run
A Vintage Tractor Run will take place on Sunday 4th June at the Fintown Festival. It will start at 3 p.m. sharp. Refreshments will be provided. For further information contact Daniel Moy on 087 6315695.
