Glenties Notes 6th August 2011

Bingo
The winners at the Bingo in the Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 26th July were – Peter Duffy won the Jackpot of € 400. Kathleen Mc Glynn, Glengesh, Susan Gildea, Mary Mc Cready, Laura Gallagher, Theresa Molloy, Fintown, Denise Campbell, Majella Cunningham and Fiona Gallagher won € 100 each. Susan Gildea, Shane Hegarty, Faye Moore, Rose Mc Groarty, Inver, Marian Davison, Rosaleen Melly, Brown Kid, Elish O’ Donnell, Maura Gallagher, Jim Mc Clean, Daniel Burke, Majella Cunningham, Margo Gallagher and James Daniel won € 50 each. Rosemary Whelan won € 40.

Glenties Community Action Group
The Community Action Group is creating a brochure that will publicise Glenties and the surrounding area. The brochure will include a business / services listing. Business and service providers in the Glenties area who wish to be included in the listing should submit their details, including brief information about their business and contact details to – glentiescag@gmail.com or alternatively information can be left with Patricia Boyle in the Highlands Hotel.

An Events & Activities listing is being compiled for the Glenties area. Regular activities as well as once-off events are welcome.

Graveyard Mass in Edeninfagh
Next Sunday 7th August Mass will be celebrated in Edeninfagh Graveyard at 3.00 p.m.

Late Connie Mc Grath
The death took place in Killybegs Hospital on Tuesday 26th July 2011 of Connie Mc Grath, Meenahalla, Glenties. His Remains were brought to his home later that day and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Thursday morning. Fr. Shane Gallagher C.C. Glenties celebrated Requiem Mass. Family members did the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music and singing was by Kevin Herron and Pat O’ Donnell. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Connie is survived by his wife, Nancy, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Three brothers, Patrick, Eddie and Michael John and one sister, Kathleen Mc Cann predeceased him. He was the last surviving member of the family of Edward and Hannah Mc Grath of Meenahalla, Glenties.

Late Mamie Roarty
The death took place on Tuesday 26th July 2011 in Harbour Lights Nursing Home, after a long illness, of Mamie Roarty, Meenahalla and Church Road, Glenties. Her Remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Wednesday evening. Her cousin Fr. John Mc Loone, Frosses celebrated Requiem Mass on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. Family members did the Readings and Prayers of the Faithful. Psalm was by Mamie’s sister- in-law, Nora Gallagher. Other music and singing was by Kevin Herron and Pat O’ Donnell. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. Mamie is survived by her niece and nephew, Ann and Frank O’ Donnell, Ardconnell, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Her husband James predeceased her sixteen years ago and her only sister Kathleen O’ Donnell died in October 2009.

Foot Health Practitioner
Margaret Connell, Foot health Practitioner will hold a Chiropody Clinic in the Glenties Day Centre on Monday 8th August. To arrange an appointment ring Margaret on 087 1417180.
