The Glenties Playgroup, Breakfast Club and Afterschool will reopen on Wednesday 29th August. In addition this year we are also providing a Full Day Care Service for Preschool children. World Meeting of Families 2018

We Welcome Pope Francis to Ireland

The Raphoe Diocese Opening Ceremony for World Meeting of Families 2018 will take place in St Eunans Cathedral, Letterkenny on Tuesday 21st August at 7.30pm. All 26 Dioceses of Ireland will celebrate together in their respective Cathedral Churches. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Important Information for those Travelling to Dublin or Knock
For those travelling to the World Meeting of Families events over the coming week we would ask each of you to be aware of items that are Prohibited. These include various types of chairs/stools, large umbrellas and cooler boxes. A list of all these items is also available in the Sacristy and Parochial House.
Before commencing your journey, visit the website regarding travel and other practical information. The Official Traffic Plan can be viewed at www.garda.ie. Pilgrims are advised to study the plan in advance of travelling to both Dublin and Knock Shrine.

Papal Mass, Phoenix Park: Tickets for coach travel commenced issuing this weekend. When we have finalised our travel arrangements, we will be in contact with everyone who has booked their seat on the bus. Papal Visit, Knock Shrine: Those who have tickets to attend the visit to Knock Shrine are advised to read the information available on the Knock Shrine website. Naomh Conaill GAA Club Notes 14th August 2018

Club 200 for last year has now been completed and a big thank you to everybody who participated and congratulations to all the prize winners. We are now organizing for the next draw. Prizes will be slightly different. €1,000 per month but this year €500 first prize and 5 prizes of €100. Contact your regular seller to ensure you are entered in the draw. First draw will be held in August.

The Raphoe Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine will take place on Saturday 18th August, led by Most Rev Bishop Alan McGuckian, SJ. Mass at 3pm Glenties Church Choir will lead the Liturgical Music in Knock Bascilica. A bus will leave from the Market Hall, Glenties at 8.30am travelling to Knock. Booking is essential. Alzheimer’s Fundraiser Event @ The Glen Tavern on the 10th, 11th and 12th August. All donations will be made towards the Glenties Day Centre.
Saturday 11th August: Traditional Irish Music with Spot Prizes on the night.
Sunday 12th August: Motorbike Run @ 3pm with registration from 2pm
Followed by BBQ with music by the Cufflinks.

A Liturgy Group Meeting will take place to help organize the Family Mass for September on Thursday 16th August at 7.00pm in the Parochial House. All interested are welcome to attend.
This will be followed by a meeting at 8.00pm with parents to enroll their children in The Family Mass Choir for the coming year. This meeting will involve parents signing permission slips for their children’s participation for 2018/2019. All ages welcome from 6 to 18 years. Any musicians interested in joining will be most welcome. The first Family Mass in September will be on Saturday 8th September at 7.30pm.

Anne McDwyer and James O’Malley would like to thank everyone for the big response to their charity piano recital. Thanks also to the local businesses who sponsored spot prizes for the raffle. A total of €700 was raised for the Glenties Day Care Centre.

The Relic of St. Therese and her parents will arrive at the Carmelite Retreat Centre in Termonbacca, Derry on Tuesday the 14th of August at 7.00 pm and leaving on Wednesday the 15th of August at 8.30 am. All welcome.

Naomh Conaill GAA Club Notes 30th August 2017

The Quarter finals of the Michael Murphy Sports Championship was held last Monday night and our reserves are to play Naomh Mhuire and our Senior team will play Killybegs on the weekend of the 9th-10th September.

Naomh Conaill minors will face An Clochán Liath this Wednesday 26th July at 7pm in Dungloe in the County Minor Championship group stage. The second group game will be on Wednesday 2nd August at 7pm in Glenties against Aodh Ruadh Ballyshannon, The last group game Naomh Conaill will face Chill Cartha on Wednesday 15th August at 7pm in Glenties. Naomh Conaill senior and reserves made it two out of two wins in the Michael Murphy sports Championship with victories over Termon, and last Sunday over Four Masters winning reserves 3-18 to 3-4 and senior 5-12 to 1-11. They will now play the 3rd round at home against Gweedore on Sunday 4th Sept at 12:30 and 2pm.

Our U16s played out a hard fought battle with Killybegs last Monday evening in Ardara in the regional final but unfortunately fell short by 1 point in the end, They will now play St Eunans in the all-county semi-final on Sunday 4th Sept at 6pm in Glenswilly.

On Thursday 8th September asking all members not to miss out on watching 20 locals take on 3 time world darts champion John Part in Leos Bar Glenties. Great nights fun and all proceeds go towards Naomh Conaill Gaa club.

Naomh Conaill are asking for anyone available on Saturday 3rd Sept for a few hours to help give a quick clean in and around the clubhouse and grounds of Davy Brennan memorial park from 10am in preparation for the Championship game on Sunday.
