Naomh Conaill Club Notes 5th September 2012
Following the wonderful performance of our county team in the semi-final we find ourselves in the wonderful position of planning for the All Ireland final at the end of September. One of the main tasks of the club over the next few weeks will be in acquiring and distributing tickets. The demand for tickets will exceed our allocation. This will mean that many will be disappointed. The club will initially allocate tickets to full members who apply. If surplus tickets are available these will be allocated by a committee to those active within the club. Any person wishing to apply for a ticket must attend the clubhouse this Friday 7th September between 7 & 9pm. When applying for a ticket each person must apply individually. Juveniles applying must be accompanied by a full member. Anyone wishing to confirm whether they are full members should contact the club registrar David Kelch on 087 9220494. The club would ask all persons wishing to attend the game to also attempt to source tickets independently as this will reduce pressure on our own allocation.
There was no winner of last weeks lotto. The numbers drawn were 2,7,11 and 25. Two prizes of €50 went to Nellie Doherty Ard Mc Gill and Janice Mc Nelis Narin Road. Next weeks jackpot is €3,000.
The U-13’s were beaten by Ardara in the league last week. Naomh Conaill 3-11 6-04 Ardara. This Wednesday 5th September they are away to Naomh Mhuire in the Banks at 5.30pm.
Well done to the U-14’s who won the Division One Regional Championship Final last week beating Ardara 1-11 6-08 Naomh Conaill. They now play Buncrana in the County Semi Final.
Good luck to the U-15 team who travel to Stewartstown Co. Tyrone this Saturday 8th September to represent Donegal in the Ulster Og Sport.
The U-21 A Football Championship game between ourselves and Ardara ended in a draw last week. Ardara 1-09 2-06 Naomh Conaill. No date has been fixed for the replay.
The reserves had a good win over Ardara in the league. Naomh Conaill 0-13 0-08 Ardara. Unfortunatly things didn’t go as well for the senior team with Ardara coming out on top. Naomh Conaill 1-08 0-15 Ardara. This Wednesday 5th September the senior play in the final of the Patsy Brogan Memorial Tournament against Killybegs in Donegal town at 7.00pm.
The club held a very successful 5k last Tuesday with a large number of participators. 1st home was Eoin Waide followed by Johnny Mc Loone. The 1st lady was Tracey Boyle 2nd Euanne Breslin. 1st U-16 Boy was David Keeney 1st U-16 Girl Amy Boyle Carr. Thanks to Martin Doherty and his committee for organising the event so well. Thanks to the local Garda, the stewards, tea ladies and to all those who took in food it was all very much appreciated.
The Naomh Conaill club would like to offer its deepest sympathy to the Duffy Family and the Termon GAA club on the tragic death of Andrew.
