Naomh Conaill Notes 21st February 2012

There was no winner of this weeks lotto. The numbers drawn were 1,13,19 &24. Two prizes of €50 went to Thomas Donaghue Naomh Conaill senior team and Charles Mc Carron Brockagh Dungloe. Next weeks jackpot is €3,500.

The 5th draw in the 200 club took place at the Community centre bingo on Tuesday 14th February. 1st prize €500 P. Bonner Derryloughan. 5 prizes of €100 each – David Kelch Narin Road, Olivia Hegarty Mullantyboyle, John Timoney Fintown, Michael Glynn Loughcrillan and Marie Carr Narin.

There is an Umpires course in Jackson’s Hotel Ballybofey on Wednesday 29th February @ 7.30pm. Anyone interested is asked to contact club secretary Patsy Furey.

Membership for 2012 is now due. Adult membership is €30 and youth is €10. There is also €100 membership which membership and entry into the weekly lotto. Membership forms are available from the clubs website.

The draw took place for the 2012 Championship. The seniors and reserves have been drawn against St. Nauls, the U-21’s have Bundoran while the 3rd’s have been drawn against Naomh Ultan.

At the clubs presentation dance on Saturday 18th February a large crowd gathered to see the Senior team receive their Division One League medals and the Senior Ladies team receive their Gaeltacht medals and Championship runner-up medals. The award winners were Senior Player of the year Stephen Mc Grath, Reserve Player James Doherty, 3rd team player Jamie Mc Hugh, Most improved player Jamie Gallagher, Senior Ladies player Michelle Boyle and Most improved ladies player Siobhan Mc Devitt. Other presentations were made to the Senior team managers and backroom team. the Ladies manager and backroom team. the 6 Naomh Conaill players who were members of the Donegal team that won the Ulster football championship,the 4 Naomh Conaill players who were members of the winning All-Ireland Vocational school team. Presentations were also made to Jim Mc Guinness Donegal senior team manager and his wife Yvonne and to Jim Farrell Chairman of the Donegal Ladies board.

Good luck to Eoin Waide and Leo Mc Loone who are members of UUJ and to Cathal Ellis a member of DCU who are in the Sigerson Cup semi final (UUJ v DCU) this Saturday in Galway.

Naomh Conaill Notes 31st October 2011

History was made in the Naomh Conaill club last Saturday when the club won its first ever U-13 County Championship at Division 1 (A Grade). This was achieved after a hard earned and tense 3-7 to 3-5 victory over St Eunan’s in the Co Final, at Pairc Taobhoige, Glenfin, with the result in doubt right up till the end. Great credit for this must go to this very dedicated group of young players who wore the club jersey with pride and distinction throughout this campaign

The team is managed and coached by Seosamh Mac Ceallabhui, who has to be highly commended for his commitment to this group of youngsters this past number of years. Well done to Seosamh and his assistants, Michael Quinn, Martin Mc Dyre, Hughie Mc Gill, Damien Craig and Vincent Cranley on a job well done. The club,management and players are extremely grateful to Eileen Mc Dyer(Raudon Teoranta) and Sven Sjoholm(Tazettta Ltd) who contributed towards kitbags for the U13s and Frank Mc Guinness who provided minerals after the final.

The seniors secured a league play off against Ardara to decide who will won the league after beating Glenswilly 1-14 to 2-7 at home last Sunday.

There was no winner of last weeks lotto. Two prizes of 50 Euro went to Judette Crawford c/o Martin Doherty and Seamus Byrne, The Rock. he numbers drawn were 1,2,8,27. This weeks jackpot is 9,000 Euro.

Tickets for Strickly Come Dancing which is on Saturday 12th November are on sale in The Highlands Hotel and Mc Glincheys.

The AGM will be on Friday 25th November in the clubhouse.

Naomh Conaill Notes 17th May 2011

Congratulations to Scoile Mhuire N.S. Glenties who won both the boys and the girls Cumann na mBunscoil 9-a-side Co Titles last Wednesday in Glenswilly.

Well done to the U16s who have reached the co league final after beating Letterkenny Gaels 3-6 to 0-8 in Letterkenny last Monday evening.

The U14s lost away to Ardara in their first league game by the narrowest of margins 2-15 to 5-07. They play Dungloe at home next Wednesday 25th at 7.30pm.

The U10s have a blitz in Kilcar this Saturday morning.

Good luck to the seniors and reserves who are in championship action this Sunday away to Glenswilly.Throw in for the reserve game is 5pm followed by the senior game at 6.30pm.

Good luck also to the senior ladies who are also in championship action this Sunday at home to Letterkeny Gaels at 12.30pm. The ladies would like to thank Kathleen Mc Gettigan, Station Road for hosting a fundraising candlelit party and raised 240 Euro for the club. We also like to thank all the young members of the club who organised and took part in the car wash last Saturday in aid of the U14 girls trip to the All Ireland Feile in Cork and raised 1,072 Euro. The U14s girls play St Michaels at home next Tuesday evening.

There will be EGM in the clubhouse this Monday night at 9pm.

Naomh Conaill Notes 24th November 2010

All roads lead to Clones this Sunday as we wish our senior team and management the best of luck in their quest to make history and won the Ulster Club Championship for the first time. They face Crossmaglen the most sucesssful team in Ulster club football. This is the biggest day in the clubs history and we are expecting a big crowd of supporters to travel to the game and to maxamize our support and to create a better atmosphere for the team we would recommend all Naomh Conaill supporters go to the main stand and sit together between the halfway line and the town end goals. Throw in time is 2pm.

The club held a very sucessful Tea Party in the Highlands Hotel last Saturday night and we would like to thank everyone who put in so much hard work to make it such a great night and all the people that supported on the night.

Good luck to the senior team who play Clontibret in the Ulster Club Championship this Sunday in Ballybofey at 2.30pm.

The 3rds finished of their league campaign with a victory at home to Aodh Ruadh last Saturday.

There was no winner of last weeks lotto.The numbers drawn were 4,9,12,24. Two prizes of 50 Euro went to Roseleen Gallagher, Ardara and Sean Mc Loone, Glenties. The jackpot now stands 4,000 Euro.

Well done to the seniors who produced a fantastic performance away to Kingscourt at O’Raghallaigh Park winning 1-12 to 0-11 last Sunday in the Ulster Club Senior Football Championship. Dispite trailing by 3pts early in the second half they produced a unforgettable second half of football and emerge winners by 4pts. A big thank you to our fantastic supportes who travelled in such large numbers and out numbered the home support 2 to 1. The next game in the Ulster Club is against Clontiblert (Monaghan) on Sunday 31st Otober in Letterkenny or Ballybofey.

Hard luck to the 3rds who were beat by 1 point against Mac Cumhaills in Donegal Town last Saturday evening in the Junior B semi final.

Naomh Conaill Notes 12th October 2010

Good luck to the senior team who travel to O’Raghallaigh Park, Kingscourt (Cavan) on Sunday to play Kingscourt at 3:30pm in the preliminary round of the Ulster Club Championship .We hope the boys can go on and do the club and county proud. We are expecting a large crowd of supporters to travel to Cavan to cheer on the team and for supporters travelling to the game we would recommend them to travel via Omagh, Monaghan and Carrickmacross

Hard luck to the minors who were beat by 2pts by Cloughaneely in co semi final last Sunday in Letterkenny.

Good luck to 3rds who play Mac Cumhaills in the Junior B semi final this Saturday in Donegal Town 4:45pm.

Naomh Conaill Notes 6th October 2010

Congratulations to the Senior team and management on winning the Senior Championship for the second time in the clubs history against Killybegs last Sunday. The day was a very memorable and proud day for everyone involved with the club after all the hard work that has been done down the years and it makes up for the disappointment of last year. We would like to thank all our supporters who travelled to the game and everyone who turned out for the homecoming to make it a night Cathal Corry and the players will always remember. They now go on to play Kingscourt (Cavan) in the Uster Club on Sunday 17th October.

The minors play Cloughaneely in the co semi final this Sunday at 3pm in Letterkenny.

The Naomh Conaill Ladies would like to thank everyonewho turned out to welcome the All Ireland Champions to the town last Tuesday night. We would like to thank Frank Connaghan for the use of his lorry, Philip Rodgers for his facilites, Kevin and Mary O’Donnell for refresments and Philip Gallagher for sound. The senior ladies are home to Malin this Sunday at 12 noon.
