Naomh Conaill Notes 6th September 2011

Pride of place this week must go to our U10s who won the Dessie Hill/Jimmy Mc Cool Tournament hosted by the St Theresa club in Belfast last Saturday. A strong selection of teams from Belfast,Ulster and as far away as Dublin participated. Naomh Conaill were drawn in group A with St Brigid’s (with a certain Joe Brolly mentoring!), St Endas and host club St Teresa’s. This turned out to be the group of death with all four teams making the cup final and the shield final at the end of the day. They lost the first game against St Brigids in a very low scoring affair 0-2 to 0-1 but had good victories against St Endas and St Theresa. On the way to the final they also defeated St Comgalls(Antrim) and Gort na Mona from Belfast scoring a total of 9-23 and only conceded 1-4. This set up a rematch with St Brigids in the final who narrowly defeated St Eunans in the semi final. In a magnificent final Naomh Conaill emerged victorious 3-4 to 2-4.
