Naomh Conaill GAA Club Notes 10th May 2016

There was no winner of this week Gaa Lotto; the numbers drawn out were 3-9-29-30 and the 2x€50 went to Martin Doc Nairin Road and Anna O’Donnell, Keelin Mc Gill Fintown  Next week’s Jackpot will be €6,400.

Club 200+ draw no 11 took place at bingo on Tuesday 3rd May and the winners were as follows €500 Connie Doherty, Station Rd and 5x€100 Karla Doherty Station rd, Joe Gallagher Derries, Sean Mc Loone c/o Leos bar, Eamon Boyle Mennalargan, Declan Bonner Glen Rd. Robert Farrell is doing the WAAR challenge in the 14th May 2016 and all his proceeds raised are going towards the Naomh Conaill minor board. Robert will have sponsorship cards in all businesses around town and all minor board managers + Robert himself. Total distance is 53K* including; 7.5k Run along the Wild Atlantic Coastline, 42.5k broken Cycle along the Wild Atlantic Way, 2k Hike with views over the hills of Donegal and 1k kayak on Loughanure Lake. Robert also has prizes for winner picked out from the sponsorship cards on the 21st May so if you see a sponsorship card please sponsor Robert.

Congratulations to our minor team on winning the minor regional league final over Ardara last week in Glencolmcille with a score of 4-13 to 1-7.

Naomh Conaill senior and reserve teams had two great victories in the league last Saturday at home against Ardara. The next league game will be Sunday 22nd May at home against Glenswilly at 1:30pm and 3pm.

Fixtures: U-12s opening league game is against Dungloe this Wednesday 11th May on the Comp field at 7pm. Wednesday 18th away v Ardara at 7pm

County Minor League Semi Final is on Wed 11th May in O Donnell Park at 730pm v St Michaels

Naomh Conaill will play their first round of the Michael Murphy sport championship group D match at home against Termon this Saturday 14th May at 1:30pm and 3pm.

Glenties Notes 5th May 2016

GAA Lotto
There was no winner of this week’s Gaa lotto. The numbers drawn out were 1-8-20-23. The 2x€50 went to Con Wright, Fintoen and Anna O’Donnell, Drumaghy Park, Ardara. Next week’s jackpot will be €6300.

Naomh Conaill GAA Club Notes 25th May 2015

There was no winner of this week’s lotto, the numbers drawn out were 11-18-19-25 and the €50×2 went to Ann Timoney, Knockletragh and Mary E Bonner, Glen Rd, next week’s jackpot will be €3,900.

Our senior and reserves got off to winning ways on Sunday last in the club championship at home vs Dungloe with a score line Reserves 2-12 to 3-4 and senior 2-14 to 1-8. Well done to all involved.

Best of luck to our senior men this weekend in The All Ireland Gaeltacht weekend in Ardara on Saturday morning vs An Ghaeltacht at 12.45 and also to our senior ladies team who play Leitir Mor Saturday evening at 5.00pm. Please come out and support both teams. There are three Gaeltacht game on Saturday in Glenties starting at 11.00am, The club would like to ask anyone if they can help out in any way to please call down to the field or contact any executive member. Your help would be gratefully appreciated.

Congratulations to our u16s who overcame Mac Cumhaills on Sunday evening last in Glenfin with a score line of 3-14 to 0-8 in the division 1 semi-final and who now go on to play Muff on fri 29th May in O’Donnell park in the league final at 7pm. Please support a fantastic team.

Well done to our u14s who overcame Naomh Naille in the division 1 league on Monday evening with a score of 5-10 to 3-3.

Congratulations to our very own Jack Flannery who was chosen to attend the Ulster U16 elite training camp in Jordanstown.

Congratulations to the county U14s ladies who became Ulster Champions on Sunday last, congratulations to all the Naomh Conaill representatives Bronagh Gallagher, Amy Boyle Carr and Sophie Connaghton.

A New club 200 draw is starting in June and there is a limited amount of places left, if you want to be in the draw every month you can contact Daniel McGeehan, James Griffin, Kevin Keeney or any executive member ASAP. Price for draw is €10 every month, €100 once off payment or €50 every 6 months.

There was no winner of this week’s GAA lotto, numbers drawn out were 1-2-10-14 and the €50×2 went to Annie Mc Dyer, Glen rd and Bernie McLoone, Main Street. Next week’s jackpot will be €3,800.

Our senior team got two more points in the league on Saturday last at home vs Four Masters with a score line of Naomh Conaill 0-15 to four masters 0-09.

Our senior and reserve county championship group 2 gets underway this Sunday 24th May in Glenties where we will host An Clochan liath. Reserve game at 12.30pm and senior at 2pm

Naomh Conaill would like to congratulate the Donegal senior and minors on two fantastic victory’s over Tyrone on Sunday last especially all the Naomh conaill players involved.

Congratulations to our u16s who won the regional league final on Monday night last with a great comeback in the second half to take victory over Killybegs with a score line of 1-9 to 2-3 in Mountcharles, well done to all involved.

Our seniors got back to winning ways in the Division 1 league on Friday last with a victory over Dungloe in Glenties Winning 2-17 to 2-8.

Congratulations to our senior men’s team on winning the 2015 Gaeltacht in Ardara with a fantastic victory over Gweedore winning 0-21 to 1-6 well done to all the team and management involved. Congratulations to Johnny Mc Loone on getting Man of the match.

A bus will leave Mc Guinness’ Café at 6.00 p.m. on Tuesday 3rd June and every first Tuesday for Mass in Rossnowlagh. The organisers wish to make an appeal for more people to join them.

An Aloe Vera Information Evening will be held in Mary Campbell’s House in Kingarrow, Fintown on Thursday 5th June. Everyone is welcome.

Glenties Notes 22nd May 2014

The Late Sean Mc Gettigan:
The death took place in Letterkenny Hospital, on Sunday 11th May 2014 of Sean Mc Gettigan, Mill Road and originally of Straboy, Glenties. His Remains were brought to his home on Monday and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Tuesday afternoon. Fr. Pat Prendergast celebrated Requiem Mass at 2 00 p.m. Family members did the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music was by Ernan O’ Donnell and Siobhan Brown (Mc Elhinney). Burial took place afterwards in the New Graveyard. Sean is survived by his wife, Mena, three daughters, Maureen, Margaret and Carol, two sons Gerry and Martin, sister, Nuala Quinn, brother, Seamus, grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Three sisters, Peggy Mc Hugh, Breid Boyce and Grainne Mc Dyer predeceased him.

Alzheimer’s Tea Day:
All at Owenea Trading, Mill Road, Glenties would like to say a Big Thank You to everyone who called to the shop on May 1st ‘Alzheimer’s Tea Day’ and to all those who gave donations. Thanks also to everyone who helped with the Tea and Una, Niamh and Ronan for all the home baking. Altogether € 626.06 was raised on the day. Thanks again to everyone. All proceeds from this event will be spent on local Alzheimer Services for families in County Donegal.

Congratulations to the young boys and girls who received the Sacrament of Confirmation in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Sunday last 18th May.

First Holy Communion:
Children from St. Riaghan’s N.S. Drimnacrosh, Kilkenny N.S. and Scoil Mhuire will receive their First Holy Communion next Saturday 24th May at 11.00.a.m. Mass in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties.

Party for First Communion Children:
The Annual party for the First Holy Communion Children, their families and guests will be held in the Community Centre after the Mass

Fintown Festival:
Fintown Festival takes place from Friday 30th May until Monday 2nd June. It starts off with a Fireworks display on the banks of Lough Finn on Friday night. On Saturday there is a 20k, 40k and 60k Leisure Cycle with Tír Chonaill GAP CC. The Gaeltacht Lar 5k Fun Run in aid of Donegal Hospice, Digger Handling Skills, Quad and Tractor Reversing also takes place on Saturday. Sunday is Family Fun Day at the Train Station, with a Regatta on Lough Finn with Donegal Coastal Rowing Association, Hills and Glens Honda Run and a Vintage Tractor Run in aid of Donegal Mountain Rescue with Mid West Vintage Club, Vintage Car Display The Lord Mayor Crowning Dance is in the Noble Bar On Momday Fintown Harps under age Soccer Tournament is at Páirc Ácla at 11 00 a.m.

Cash for Clobber at St. Riaghan’s N.S. Drimnacrosh:
Cash for Clobber Collection will take place at the school on Tuesday 27th May, organised by the Green Team. The school will receive a cash donation for each well filled ‘Cash for Clobber’ or bin liner size bag. Money collected will go towards school funds. Filled bags can be brought to the school on Monday 26th or early on the morning of Tuesday 27th May. This collection is part of the Green School’s Initiative that is on – going within the school, and is an opportunity to get rid of unwanted clothes, shoes and textiles in an environmentally friendly way. Naomh Conaill GAA Club Notes 19th May 2014

Naomh Conaill Ladies
The last day for registering with Naomh Conaill Ladies is next Friday 23rd May. All players , managers and mentors must be registered before that date. The cost of registration is underage players 36 euro, senior players 51 euro and non players 26 euro. The Club is organising a Scrap Saturday with the collection of scrap metals commencing on Thursday 29th to Saturday 31st May at the rear of the club house. The first draw in the 200 club will take place on the 27th May. There are some places left and if you wish to be included please contact any club executive member.
