CONFESSIONS ON SATURDAY MORNING FOLLOWING 11AM MASS.

November is traditionally the time of the year when, we as a people of faith, direct our focus towards our deceased brothers and sisters. As part of the Communion of Saints we pray for their souls that they find rest in God’s abode.

Our Novena of Masses for the Holy Souls (9 Masses) begins on November 2nd (All Souls Day) with 7.30pm Mass.

Envelope Petitions for list of the Deceased are available in the porch this weekend to be returned by the 1st November.

SN Éadan Fhionn Fhraoich/Edeninfagh NS: A Cash for Clobber collection will take place in the school on Tuesday 13th November as part of our fundraising efforts for this school year. Black refuse bags can be filled with all types of clothing, pairs of shoes, household textiles and handbags. Filled bags can be left to the school on Monday 12th or early morning on Tuesday 13th. Collection of filled for those unable to come to the school can be arranged by telephoning (086)1798692.

Donegal Pro Life invite all the faithful to celebrate All Saints Day on 1st November 2018 by posting photos of their best costumes & activities on their Facebook page (Donegal Pro-Life).

West Donegal Career Opportunities 2018 on Thursday 8th November in the Waterfront Hotel, Dungloe, is being hosted by EURES Cross Border Partnership in conjunction with The Department of Employment Affairs & Social Protection and Údarás na Gaeltachta. The event will run from 2.00pm until 8.00pm. A large number of employers will be in attendance and they will have a number of job offers available. Admission is free.

Raphoe Diocesan Society:  You are encouraged to have your deceased relatives enrolled in the Society and you yourselves are encouraged to become Living Members.  Any person wishing to become a member may apply to any of the Diocesan Clergy.  An Annual Diocesan Mass will be offered for the deceased members and the prayers of the people of the diocese will be requested for the same intention on the weekend following the publication of the quarterly list of members who died during the previous quarter. The fee for enrolling members is €15 for Each Member.  The Annual Mass for the Deceased Members of the Society will be celebrated in the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Glenfin on Tuesday 13th November at 7.00pm.

Easter 2019-The Irish Pilgrimage Trust are currently accepting applications for their pilgrimage to Lourdes from young people in the North West area (Donegal/Derry/Tyrone) with:

  • A medical condition, physical disability, illness, learning disability, social or emotional need (aged 11-30 years)
  • Ill children under the age of 11 years, accompanied by a parent or close relative

The Irish Pilgrimage Trust covers the cost of the young person selected to travel. If there is someone that you feel would be eligible and would benefit from a trip to Lourdes, and you need any further information or an application form please contact Mary on 00353877962047. The closing date for applications is 31st October.

Donegal is a walk-in information and support centre for cancer patients, their families and anyone concerned about cancer. We’re currently looking for volunteers to work with our Daffodil Centre Nurse based in the hospital. Training will be provided. Anam Cara Donegal, the organisation that supports bereaved parents, is holding a Parent Evening on Thursday 11th of October at 7:20pm in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal. This event is free and open to all bereaved parents regardless of the age your child died, the circumstances of their death, or whether their death was recent or not.

Fr Gerard will visit the sick and house bound on Tuesday 9th and Wednesday calls will take place on Friday 12th October.

Naomh Conaill GAA Club Notes 18th October 2016

There was no winner of this week Gaa Lotto; the numbers drawn out were 8-11-13-29 and the 2x€50 went to Barbara Bonner, Straboy and Connie Doherty, Station rd. Next week’s Jackpot will be €8,700.

Congratulations to our Minor and 3rd Teams on reaching there County finals this weekend. The Minors defeated St Michaels 4-21 to 2-3 and will now play St Eunans. The 3rd Team defeated St Eunans 0-10 to 0-7 and play Glenswilly. Good luck to both teams and management involved from all at Naomh Conaill Gaa.

There was no winner of this week’s Gaa lotto, the numbers drawn out were 1-3-11-18 and the €50×2 went to Kathleen Mc Glynn, Glengesh Ardara and Patsy Furey, Ard Patrick Glenties. Next week’s Jackpot will be €3,600.

What a week it’s been for our Senior Team and Management sun 18th October winning the Donegal Radio Na Gaeltachta final over St Eunans and then six days later Sat 24th winning the All Ireland Comortas Peile final over Kilcar in Ardara. Congratulations to Martin, Cathal and all the Naomh Conaill senior team and Good Luck in Ulster Club this weekend Sun 1st November Naomh Conaill vs Trillick (Tyrone) at Pairc Mac Cumhaill at 2.30pm.

Well done to our U13s who defeated four masters on Sun morning last in the Regional Semi-Final and will now face Ardara in the final on Thursday 29th October at 7pm in Naomh Muire Annagry.

Naomh Conaill ladies AGM will be on Saturday 14th November at 8pm in the clubhouse. Everyone welcome.

The Next club 200+ draw will take place on Tuesday 3rd November at Bingo.

Thanks:
The Connaghan Family would like to thank everyone who came to Frank’s month’s mind mass on Friday 10th October. Novena of Masses for the Dead:
Every Mass from Sunday 2nd November until Monday 10th November, in The Church of the Church of the Holy Family, Edeninfagh, and in St.Connell’s Church, Glenties, will be offered for those who are named in the Dead Lists. Special envelopes, containing Dead Lists, are available at the door of the Church. The completed lists should be returned by Sunday 2nd November, to be placed on the Altar for the Masses. Please do not leave envelopes with donations for Masses in or around the church. .The envelopes will be kept in a secure place between Masses.

Confession Times in Glenties:
Friday 31st October – Confession immediately after 7.30 p.m. Mass; Saturday 1st November – Confession after11.00 a.m. Mass & after 7.30 p.m. Mass Please note – there will be NO Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament this week.

Glenties Gets Ready for Halloween: Following on from the successful Harvest Fair Festival we are now busily preparing for the annual Halloween celebrations on the October Bank Holiday Weekend. The weekend will begin at 4 p.m. for kids, on Friday 24th with Ghost Walks along the spooky roads of Altar in Glenties, and at 7 p.m. for adults. On Saturday 25th the Kids Parade & Halloween Disco takes place in the Community Centre at 4 p.m.; followed at 9 p.m. by the return of the Fireworks Display, so enjoyed last year, with viewing from the Comp. Sports Field, buckets will be available for donations at this event. Then on Sunday 26th the now famous Glenties Halloween Parade and Ball takes centre stage, with the Main Street being overtaken by ghouls and goblins, and the Highlands Hotel being the venue for all the monsters to gather for the Ball. Proceedings begin at 10 p.m.; and a prize fund of € 2,000 is on offer for the best dressed participants and scariest parade floats, so get designing and making now, it’s just a week away and remember – Glenties is the best, and only place, to celebrate your Halloween.
