The Captains’ Drive-in was postponed due to the heavy frost and has now been re-scheduled for Saturday, February 5th at 10a.m. It will be followed by a fourball mixed scramble under a shotgun start.
I neglected to include the club’s latest Gaeltacht result in my match report last week. The years are taking their toll! Michael’s lads won eight and a half matches out of ten, s superb result. This tally added to the four and a half won before Christmas leaves them handily placed after two matches.
The results of last week’s events will appear in next week’s notes. Kevin McCreadie and Donie McCole were the winners of the respective competitions.

There was no winner of last weeks club lotto. Two prizes of 50 Euro went to Gerard Gallagher, Killybegs and Paddy McDevitt. The numbers drawn were 10,12,16,17. The jackpot now stands at 4,600 Euro.
The Night at the Races due to take place last Friday night in the Noble Bar had to be cancelled because of the bad weather.

Commiserations to our senior team after losing to Crossmaglen in the Ulster Club Final in Cavan last Sunday. They have served the club and county very proudly and we would like to thank Cathal and the boys for giving us some wonderful memories in 2010. We are very lucky to have such a talented and dedicated bunch of players and we hope they can continue on in 2011.
The U21s are due to play Four Masters at home in the 1st round of the championship this Sunday.
The November draw for 200 Club was a week late because of the bad weather and was held last Tuesday night in the Highlands Hotel and 1st prize of 500 Euro went to Pat Eamon Boyle, Glen Road and 5 prizes of 100 Euro went to Albert Wade, Martin Mc Dyer, Ann Quinn, Stacey Blake and Dermott Bonner.
A Night at the Races will be on in the Noble Bar, Fintown on Friday 17th December at 8.30pm.A bus will leave Roddys at 8.15pm. Special guest on the night will be Dr Maguire.
There was no lotto draw last week because of the bad weather. The draw takes place every Tuesday night at the Community Centre Bingo and next Tuesday they will be holding there Christmas Bingo with lots of prizes.
Congratulations to Sean Connaughton on his appointment as Youth Officer at last Monday nights County Convention.
The members finally got out on the links again last Sunday after a long hiatus due to snow and ice, and, after a chilly start, the large field enjoyed competing for the prestigious Christmas Hamper. Mark Diver proved triumphant on the day, pipping Jimmy Cunningham to the goodies with a five under par 68.
Barney Cunningham was the winner of last Friday’s senior outing with a score of 32 points and goes into the lead in the overall competition with just two competitions remaining. Paddy Boyle took the silver medal position, beating Michael Naughton on a break of tie with both on 30 points. Manus Boyle had the best score so far in the tournament when he carded an excellent 35 points in the previous 16 hole competition to win by 3 points from Joe Conneely. The top of the table in the overall competition shows Barney Cunningham 35; Paddy Boyle 31; Manus Boyle 29; Denis Carbery and Micheál McGinley on 28 each. The overall prize is counted on the winner of a weekly competition receiving 10 points descending to tenth place getting one point. Weather permitting we intend to have an outing on Friday, December 17th and the final outing and presentation of prizes is scheduled for Thursday, December 23rd with tee booked each day from 10a.m. to 11a.m.
A re-scheduling of events is required and the postponed Christmas Cracker will now be played on Wednesday, December 22nd. This free single stableford event will feature a shotgun start at 11a.m. and is closed to members. The Christmas Party will commence with music on that day at 4p.m., followed by a buffet and the presentation of hampers and turkeys won in November and December.
The Annual General Meeting will be held in the clubhouse on Wednesday, December 29th commencing at 5.30p.m. It will be preceded by an E.G.M. starting at 5p.m. in which the members will vote on the newly updated constitution. This document will be posted in the clubhouse from Wednesday, December 15th. The club’s financial report will also be displayed in the clubhouse from December 15th, along with the Nomination Sheet for Council and the Motions Sheet. All Full Members are invited to attend.

The best of luck once again to our senior team and management in the Ulster Club Final against Crossmaglen in Clones this Sunday at 1.45pm. It was very disappointing that the game had to be called off once again because of the weather but hopefully it will be third time lucky this Sunday. It has been a very diffulcult time for the team preparing for the final but we would like to thank Na Rossa for the use of Dooey last Sunday and we would also like to thank everyone who turned up to help clear the training field of snow and ice last Monday it is very much appreciated by the club. We hope everyone will travel to Clones in large numbers to cheer on the boys and if they show the same dedication, commitment and determination as they have done all year we hope we will be Ulster champions on Sunday evening.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Monica Kennedy, Narin Road, Glenties on the death recently in the U.S.A. of her brother, James Gallagher (formerly of Ardun, Glenties). Sincere sympathy also to his nieces, nephews and all his relatives and friends.
The death took place at his home on Wednesday 24th November of Andy Doherty, The Rock and formerly The Wood, Glenties. His Remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Friday morning. Fr. Pat Prendergast celebrated Requiem Mass at 11 a.m. Readings were by his grandson, John Glynn. Music and singing was by John F. O’ Donnell and Sinead Finn. Burial took place in the local Graveyard. He is survived by one daughter, Rosemary Glynn, five sons, Paddy, Danny, John, Andy and Tony, grandchildren, in-laws, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Andy’s wife Margaret predeceased him fourteen years ago. His sister Lil Gallagher, Meenahalla, Glenties and three other sisters and a brother also predeceased him.
Congratulations to June (nee Conefry) and Hugo Kilroy, Altar, Glenties on the birth recently of their fourth child, a baby sister (Clodagh) for Aidan, Emily and Bethany.

First Holy Communion
Children from St. Riaghan’s N.S. and Scoil Mhuire will receive their First Holy Communion in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Saturday 7th May 2011 at 11 a.m. Mass. Children from Edeninfagh N.S. will receive their First Holy Communion on Sunday 8th May in the Church of the Holy Family, Edeninfagh at 9.30 Mass.
The Ulster Club Senior Final against Crossmaglen has being refixed for this Sunday at 2pm in Clones but as the weather conditions are not expected to improve during the week there is no guarantee the game will go ahead so supporters should check the club website (naomhconaill.ie), local radio stations or Mc Glincheys for up to date information on the final.
