Naomh Conaill GAA Club Notes 1st August 2017

There was no winner of this week Gaa Lotto; the numbers drawn out were 7-14-15-23 and the 2x€50 went to Peter Duffy, Mennacarn and Katie Doherty, Stranaglough. Next week’s Jackpot will be €3,700.

SuperValu in Ballybofey have given a box for Naomh Conaill GAA club. They are sponsoring first touch balls and through the initiative, SuperValu customers will receive ‘#BehindTheBall’ tokens, which they can then use to allocate to our local GAA club at the in-store collection points.

Our next club 200 draw is now underway. The first draw will be held in August and every first Tuesday of each month for the rest of the year. To enter for the draw, contact your seller or any club officer, €10 per month or €100 per year. There is also a payment of €50 can be paid in two instalments

Naomh Conaill minors will face An Clochán Liath this Wednesday 26th July at 7pm in Dungloe in the County Minor Championship group stage. The second group game will be on Wednesday 2nd August at 7pm in Glenties against Aodh Ruadh Ballyshannon, The last group game Naomh Conaill will face Chill Cartha on Wednesday 15th August at 7pm in Glenties. Naomh Conaill will play Four Masters in the Michael Murphy sports championship round 2 on Sunday 20th August in Glenties and round 3 against St Eunans on Sunday 27th in Letterkenny.

Naomh Conaill Club Notes 17th October 2013

All roads lead to Ballybofey this Sunday for what is a really big day for the club. Leo’s reserve team take on Gweedore in the championship reserve county final replay at 1.45pm. Good luck to Leo, his mentors and the team. This is followed by the senior final which Naomh Conaill clubman Ian Molloy is refereeing accompanied by his umpires Anthony Molloy, Brian Carr, Michael Regan(Naomh Conaill) and Lee Jordan(Four Masters). Good luck lads.

There was no winner of last weeks lotto. The numbers drawn were 2,4,17 and 25. Two prizes of €50 went to Kathleen Gallagher Sheskantinny Bridge and Jacinta Crossan Co Derry. Next weeks jackpot is €4,300.

Sunday was a great day for the club winning three out of three matches. First up were the U16’s who had a one point win over Aodh Ruadh. Naomh Conaill 2-07 3-03 Aodh Ruadh. The return leg will be played this Sunday in Ballyshannon at 12noon. This was followed by the reserves who had a comprehensive victory over Ardara. Naomh Conaill 0-16 1-03 Ardara. The seniors secured there place in Division One for next year when they put in a brilliant second half display to come out comprehensive winners over Ardara. Naomh Conaill 4-14 2-08 Ardara. This was the seniors last game of the year.

Hard luck to the U13’s who were beaten by St Nauls after extra time in the semi final on Monday night. St Nauls 4-12 4-08 Naomh Conaill.

Naomh Conaill Club Notes 3rd April 2013

There was no winner of last weeks lotto. The numbers drawn were 1, 14, 21 & 22. Two prizes of 50 Euro went to Nan Doherty, Dungloe and Caoimhe Mc Callig, Lacklea. This weeks jackpot is 6,000 Euro.

The winners of the 200 club March draw were 1st prize of 500 Euro were Shaun Mc Monagle, Fintown and 5 prizes of 100 Euro went to Thomas Mc Dyre, Derries, Michael Boyle, Ard Mc Gill, Maggie O’Donnell, Meenahalla, Dim Melly, Leitir and Annmarie Brennan, Ardara.

The senior team had mixed fortunes last weekend losing at home to Four Masters on Good Friday by 4 points but they recorded their first victory of the year against Killybegs by 1-6 to 0-6 in Glenties.

The reserves had only one game and new manager Leo Mc Loone (senior) got of to a winning start beating Killybegs 1-7 to 0-6. They are at home to Four Masters this Saturday evening at 6.45pm.

The U14s beat Aodh Ruadh 4-14 to 3-3 in Ballyshannon last Monday. They are at home to Naomh Mhuire next Monday at 7pm.

Glenties Notes 7th November 2012

The Late Michael Mc Guigan:
The death took place in Rotterdam, Holland on Saturday 27th October of Michael Mc Guigan, formerly of Ardconnell, Glenties. His Remains were brought to his home in Kilraine on Thursday 1st November and to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Friday afternoon for Requiem Mass at 1 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Pat Prendergast. Family members did the Readings, Prayers of the Faithful and brought the Gifts to the Altar. Music and singing was by John F. O’ Donnell. Burial took place afterwards in the local Graveyard. He is survived by his wife, Enike, step-son Reuben, grandchildren, Nathan and Megan, brother, Patrick, Ardconnell, two sisters, Anne and Maureen, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended.

Swimming Lessons in Ballyshannon:
A new 8 – week term of swimming lessons will start on Tuesday 13th November in Ballyshannon Pool. Glenties Community Centre – New Venues during Renovations:
The Glenties Community Centre Bingo will be in the Highlands Hotel every Tuesday evening for the remainder of the renovations in the Centre. Every line € 50 every house € 100. Jackpot if not won will be € 3800 on the 13th of November and if not won on that night on 45 numbers € 300 will be paid.

The Glenties Community Centre Committee is running a draw to help with the funding of the renovations. Lines for the draw can be purchased in most business premises in the town. Fashion Show:
A Fashion Show & X – Factor Extravaganza will be held in the Highlands Hotel on this Friday – 9th November at 8 p.m. in aid of Glenties Day Centre / Alzheimer’s Day. Your support would be greatly appreciated for the continuation of this vital service to the Local Community.

The Collection for the Friends of Letterkenny General Hospital, taken up recently, amounted to € 626.00. Many thanks to all those who supported this cause.

Glenties and Dungloe Sewerage Schemes:
On behalf of Seamus Rodgers, Michael Conaghan T.D. asked Mr. P. Hogan, Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, the position regarding the proposed sewerage schemes in respect of Glenties and Dungloe – Reply on 23rd October 2012 – “The Dungloe and Glenties Sewerage Schemes, which are to advance jointly, are included in the Water Services Investment Programme 2010 – 2013 among the list of contracts in Donegal to start in the period 2010 – 2013. My Department has approved the tender documents for the work, which involves the provision of new wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations and sewers in Dungloe and Glenties, and I understand that Donegal County Council is currently advancing the combined scheme through the tender process.”

Cash for Clobber
Scoil Mhuire N.S. Glenties is having a ‘Cash for Clobber’ collection on Thursday 21st October.  Filled bags (bin liner size) can be brought to the school until school closes on the day.  This is a good way to get rid of unwanted clothing, paired shoes, curtains, linens, old handbags and belts and is in keeping with the ‘Green Schools Initiative’.  The school will receive € 4 for each well filled bag, which will go towards school funds.  Your contributions are greatly appreciated.  For further information please contact the school at 074 9551521.

New Arrival
Congratulations to Bernie and Ronan Molloy, Mill Road, Glenties on the birth recently of their third child, a baby brother (Jack) for Hannah and Adam

The winners at the Bingo in The Community Centre, Glenties on Tuesday 12th October were – Rosaleen Melly won the Jackpot of € 400.  Brid Gallagher, Nan Doherty, Sally Mc Hugh, Paula Hegarty, Nancy Shovlin, Paddy Joe Gallagher, Rose Browne, Agnes Mc Mahon, Ann Kennedy and Mary Gallagher won € 100 each.  Bella Boyle, Ann Byrne, Hugh Gallagher, Elizabeth Buckley, Mary Furey, Josie Gallagher, Isobel Mc Loone, Carmel Doherty and John Molloy, Fintown won € 50 each.  Lettie Doherty, Margaret Murray, Helen Mc Dyre and Rosemary Whelan won € 25 each.

Leo and Annette Mc Loone, all their family and bar staff at Leo’s Bar, Glenties would like to thank everyone for their support with the BBQ, which was held on August 1st.   € 2,000 was raised for the C.C.U. in Letterkenny Hospital.  Thanks to everyone who helped in any way to make it a success.

Christmas Lights Halloween Ball
The Annual Halloween Ball in aid of the Christmas Lights will be held in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties on Sunday 24th October.  Music is by Guilty of Rhythm.  Doors will open at 10 p.m.  Face Painting in the Hotel from 7 p.m.  There will be cash prizes for the best individual and group costumes.

Carnival Parade
The Carnival Parade will start from the Community Centre at 9 p.m.

Children’s Fancy Dress Parade & Family Fun Evening
On Saturday 23rd October there will be a family fun evening, with a Fancy Dress parade for the children from the Community Centre and afterwards to the Hotel ballroom for some Halloween treats.  There will be Face Painting in the hotel before the parade.

Swimming Lessons in Ballyshannon
West Coast Cormorants are running an eight week session in Ballyshannon Leisure Centre, starting on Tuesday 2nd November.  This session offers swimming lessons for beginners, improvers and higher levels.  This is a valuable opportunity for children to work for an Irish Water Safety Swim Award.  Application forms will be available in the usual outlets in Glenties and Ardara and should be returned by Wednesday 20th October, no later than Friday 22nd October.  Costs will be kept to a minimum this year, at € 85 per child, including travel, pool and certificate.  Parents please note: this is a voluntary, community-run club and we need each of you to supervise the bus on one occasion during the term.  For further details, please contact 086 0782699.

Self Help Africa Church Gate Collection will be taken up before the Masses next weekend.

Parenting Course
A Positive Parenting Course will be held in St. Riaghan’s N.S. Drimnacrosh, beginning on Wednesday 20th October.  The course will be run over a six week period, every Wednesday for two hours (excluding Wednesday 27th October- Mid Term Break) between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.  There will be a break for tea / coffee during each two hour session.  This course, which is delivered by the H.S. E. is open to all parents of Primary School Children and is free of charge.  Subjects covered are Communication, Self-Esteem, Resilience and Behavioural Issues.  Please contact the school at 9551591.

Friends of Letterkenny Hospital
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the collection on the Harvest Fair Day in Glenties.  The amount raised was € 643.72c.

Novena of Masses for the Dead
Every Mass from Tuesday 2nd November until Wednesday 10th November in St. Connell’s Church, Glenties and The Church of the Holy Family, Edeninfagh will be a Mass for the Dead.  Special envelopes will be available at the door of the Church next weekend.

Coffee Morning
Edeninfagh N.S. will hold a Coffee Morning in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital tomorrow, Friday 22nd October, beginning at 10.30 a.m.  Donations will be accepted at the school on the day.  Everyone is welcome.

Fintown parish Bazaar
The Annual Bazaar will take place in Ballinamore School next Sunday 24th October at 2.30 p.m.  There will be some great prizes.  Your support would be much appreciated.
